  • Let me count the ways. The Old Testament is in complete disagreement with the New Testament. The Gospels are in complete disagreement with the Epistles. Don't try to make sense of it as a whole. Pick a part and go with it.
  • In no ways. The prophecies in the Old Testament are fulfilled. Teachings in the Gospels are expounded upon the Epistles. 'Study to show thyself approved'. Good question. Keep searching - search the Bible; you won't find a single contradiction if you read it in context.
  • Because the Bible is filed with contradictions- some superficial, and some that go down to the heart of the belief system. The New Testament says "God is Love", yet in the Old Testament God is responsible for genocide, torture, and petty vindictive acts. http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/inj/long.html
  • Hypocrasy means pretending to be what one is not or to believe what one does not. By this definition the Bible is in no way hypocritical. Catholics believe that the Bible teaches truth about God but it is not historically factual at all times. The Bible's primary purpose is to teach us the truth about God and His (or Her) love for us and how we should love each other, not to teach facts about history or science. All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 105 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect1chpt2.htm With love in Christ.
  • I don't think it's the Bible that's hypocritical. If there is hypocrisy it must be from its many authors and from those followers of the Bible who will ignore the verses that don't agree with their viewpoint or give those verses the most amazing inerpretations.
  • I think the better question is; when is this steaming pile of shit known as "The Bible" not hypocritical? Here are just a select few of the MANY examples in which the Bible contradicts itself; "23:8 These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time." See where the Bible claims that Adino slew 800 men? Well, later it contradicts itself by saying; "11:11 And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had; Jashobeam, an Hachmonite, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain by him at one time." ```````````````````````` One the subject of adultery; Here, the Bible claims that adultery is wrong, and should be punishable by death. "Exodus 20:14, Deuteronomy 5:18 Thou shalt not commit adultery. Hebrews 13:4 Whoremongers and adulterers God will judge." Then, it contradicts itself yet again. "1:2 The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD." Those are only a couple examples of MANY
  • I have not studied the bible enough to give you much insight, but you might find this website interesting: http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/jim_meritt/bible-contradictions.html It is list of contradictions by Jim Meritt. Some examples: War or Peace? EXO 15:3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name. ROM 15:33 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen. Who is the father of Joseph? MAT 1:16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. LUK 3:23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli.
  • well it says to stone people to death for the most ridiculous things, and then later love everyone. hmmmmm
  • None. We may not always understand things and somethings are indeed hard to understand, but that does not mean they contradict, only that we do not understand. As Mark Twain said "It's not the 10% of the Bible I don't understand that worries me. It's the 90% I do." If you think that things contradict, go and ask someone who has studied it. If they don't know the answer, they can go and look it up for you, or just say, as I would "I don't know the answer to that. God will tell me one day. Until that day, knowing HIm as I do, I will trust him on the small amount of things I don't understand."
  • By the ways the church and denominations or non-denominations twist and lie about what the Bible says especially in the areas of sexual enjoyment. The church is very anti-sex when the Bible and the Lord God is very pro-sex.
  • Hmmm - I never found it so.
  • 2-17-2017 Doesn't it occur to you that if there were actually a devil, he would do everything in his power to make you THINK the bible is hypocritical? He would tell you that the universe was created in six days when the bible does not say any such thing. He would tell you God killed people when the Hebrew text says He was forced to allow their deaths. After all, God is the God of rightness, and the devil is the god of this world, so God can't stop the devil from acting within his authority. He has to do things right. Maybe your problem is you have been listening to random preachers telling you what the bible says instead of reading it for yourself.
