The polls I saw were 37-40% Biden 40-44% Trump, but either way, it's not looking good for Biden, particularly because Trump is actually fairly unpopular. I think a stronger candidate, for example, one who is not fighting off several criminal charges in various states, and potentially being blocked from the ballot in several states, would absolutely crush Biden in a general election. HOWEVER, both parties are being run by complete morons, so likely, the democrats will run Biden, despite the polls indicating defeat, AND, likely, the GOP will run Trump, despite the dire issues with scrutiny involved in promoting such a person as a leader. HOWEVER HOWEVER, the only thing more stupid than the political party leadership is everyone else, so we, being completely helpless without an authority figure telling us what to do, will NOT vote for a third and more sensible party, no, ~90% of US voters (probably the vast majority of voting-age citizens will merely stay home as they typically do) will go to the polls and chose either the angry orange dictator or the incontinent babbling octogenarian. And then the USA will be doomed.

I feel sorry for you all. Surely your country could come up with some better candidates than those 2.

I pay no attention to polls; I've long since come to believe that reaching conclusions based on a few thousand people out of a population of millions is ridiculous.

This early: completely irrelevant. What the polls say next October will be relevant.

Naw, not completely irrelevant, just of limited value. Even the polls next October will be of limited value. There is only one that actually means anything definite and actionable. The fact that mainstream news already assumed who the two major candidates were going to be before any polls were conducted, and that despite polls showing that a significant number of people don't want either - the mainstream media is still pushing those two almost exclusively - well, that says it all. -

bost: I just meant that the poll is too far from the election to provide the slightest indication of how the election will turn out. A poll taken in October might actually give you a good idea how the election will turn out, but now...there's simply going to be no relation between today's poll and the election. The election is too far off, and specific "current issues" that figure large in the media and in voter opinion polls now will be mostly forgotten, while a completely new set of "current issues" will take priority come election time. (Except in the general sense, like how the economy is doing [changes over time], how good a showing does our military make [ditto], how is support for Ukraine working out [ditto], etc.)
