Real. It's what puts man at a higher level than the animals (although over the past few years, I've noticed different levels of man's free will that show a lot of people with a will much closer to sheep).

As far as we can tell, it is real. That is: as far as we can tell, we actually do make decisions (which trait is most well-evidenced by how difficult it is at times to make a decision).
