It doesn't matter - they're both the same. The only difference (which doesn't make a difference in the taste) is that brown eggs come from chickens that have red ears. White eggs come from the rest. (Yes, chickens have ears - the red things you see on either side of a chicken's head are the ears). Supermarkets often sell brown eggs at a higher price, giving the false assumption that they're healthier - and many people fall for this scam. The only healthier eggs are organic eggs, and their value is reflected in both brown and white eggs.

1465 is right, there is no nutritional difference. But not correct on the reason brown eggs cost more: "Chickens with red feathers are larger in body size and require more feed which is why brown eggs are more expensive on store shelves." -

Red feathers? I didn't say anything about feathers - I said ears. And as for body size, I know of a white chicken that stands about 10 feet tall.

I was always told that brown eggs were better...but I don't know why. Maybe because they were cheaper? (People typically prefer the white eggs.)

Egg color depends on the breed of the chicken. Preference for certain eggs is cultural.

The shell color is irrelevant to the nutrition of the egg. What is important is the diet of the hen who produced it.
