  • There are some people who need money and can't afford it while they are waiting for their disability case to go through so in this case I agree

You don't know what you're talking about. Disabled people don't get Welfare.
    • Charin Cross
they get disability. but it's still a free check every month paid for with our ever increasing taxes. some of these people are able bodied and can work but the gov't NEVER checks back about their physical status.
    • Linda Joy
That's not true. I get reviewed regularly. And I paid in for 30 years before I got a check, so its not Welfare! Its was INSURANCE!

      Aren't YOU ON DISABILITY, DWW?
  • Need a LOT MORE information in order to do a case study. Don't want to just to a conclusion without all the facts 😏

  • Many of them are good actors and actresses. They fake mental and physical health to receive rent from the council, free travel passes, living allowances, free activities and so on.

  • I think they must need the help or they would not apply for welfare. Yes, there may be some cheats but for the most part they are honest people.

So 1465, you'd give up a functioning penis or bowels in order to get a 750m check from the government? lol - You don't take very good care of you body, do you? lol
  • If you are visibly disabled, like you have no legs or arms, then yes, its pretty easy to get welfare. If you have to prove it, then the rule is "3 times your in." You have to go to three fair hearings which take more than a year and if you are still 'standing' you will probably get SSI.

I was denied on my first application and granted the second time. And it took two years. I lived in homeless shelters while I waited and they took over $200/mo out of my disability back pay for every month I lived in a homeless shelter so it wasn't free either!! But people will assume instead of asking.

LJ that's pretty common. Because of all the welfare fraud going on its not unusual for them to take out half your back pay for staying over at someone elses' house for a single night. That's happened to a friend of mine when he applied. Its a lot tougher than it used to be.

They used to pay people outrageous sums like 20K from the date they became disabled. Then the client would go out and blow it in a few days. So they're trying not to do it anymore.
