  • An "air fryer" **is** a convection oven. It's shape and size and accessories make it more suitable for certain types of foods (for example: frozen fried foods) than a typical countertop convection toaster oven. A **good** countertop convection toaster oven will do pretty much everything that a **good** air fryer will do.

I have a Ninja air fryer (the larger model) and I am very happy with it. It *is* cheaper than a good convection toaster oven. The amount of food you can cook at one time is limited, but it does cook fast. I use 1/2 the "oven baking time" on the package directions and it almost always turns out right.
  • Air fryers cook quicker than convection ovens and use little to no oil.

  • Are you asking about a convection oven, or a conventional oven versus the air fryer? I don't own an air fryer, but I hear they are pretty fast cookers.

  • Convection, or conventional oven? I like my air fryer. It doesn't heat up the kitchen as much as the big oven. And it makes the skin on the chicken crispy without using oil for frying. Cleaning it is easier than cleaning baking dishes, too.
