  • People have been saying that for as long as I can remember... I ditched cable TV years ago, and it doesn’t seem so blown up now

Yeah Cable TV is a racket
  • Of course. Whoever came up with the idea of "Black Friday" was an evil genius. Whether you celebrate the birth of Jesus, the success of Maccabean revolts, the longer daylight time, or just having time to be around family, the message of "gimme more stuff" is purely commercial and has nothing to do with any wholesome tradition.

  • That's a personal choice. I got into buying the high dollar ornaments from Michaels when they had their after Christmas sale (90% off!!) $5 ornaments for .50! My ex moved while I was in Boot Camp and a lot of our stuff was lost. After that I decided I would only put hand made ornaments on the tree. Except for the lights. And ornaments gifted to me by others. And I would make the ornaments with my son and his cousin. I started making more of the gifts as well. And like asking for a friend, I quit watching tv about ten years ago. I just stream on my computer now. And a lot of people I know don't even cook for Christmas. And I made it a tradition to read Luke 2 the night before Christmas.

Thanks for the comment, sounds good to me
  • People spend more on holidays than usual. Why do businesses let go of such large holidays? As long as you can celebrate the holiday with your family, you will feel very warm😄.
