  • You're much more likely to contaminate everything in the bathroom (and according to Mythbusters even the toothbrush in the other room used for test comparison) with fecal germs if you flush with the lid up. But if you don't care whether or not you have poop germs on your tooth brush, why should I? Go for it! I haven't kept my toothbrush in the bathroom for over ten years! Also keeping the lid down will prevent things from accidentally falling into the toilet. On the other hand leaving the seat ring up will prevent crabs from hanging onto the seat. Wait, is this another duplicate question or am I getting a flash of dejavu? I'm tired. I should rest. Its been fun.

      I‘m not flushing with the lid up I’m just putting it back up after flushing is completed.
