Archie Bunker Food stamps is a welfare program. It's supposed to be a temporary helping hand, not a permanent solution. Federal disability payments is a little more complicated because it depends on the disability and the circumstances surrounding it. Again, I have no problem with there being much more stringent requirements for either.
