  • Long time! After 2000 but before 2009.
    • Azlotto
      Thank you.
  • Last fall.
    • Azlotto
      Bust some clays?...Thanks.
    • Ice man
      Yes, exactly.
  • I hate guns. But as part of some activity my father signed me up for as a teen ("to keep me out of trouble"), I did get an FID and a bit of practice. But I'd never touch one again now. A gun is something that has no use except to kill. (It's true. If you were to try using your hand gun for hammering nails, for instance, you'd probably blow your head off. ..and worse, fail to finish driving in the nail. See? mm..

      Thanks for your reply.

I respectfully disagree guns are used for self-defense. They actually help to keep many people alive. I.e. mass shootings in CA vs TX the potential victims in TX lived because self defense was initiated!
    • Sandra Ursula
Guns are great for self-defense. The sight of one can scare off an attacker.
  • I don't use guns. If I need a weapon I'll use fresh fruit. The last time I attacked someone I used a banana. It did the job.
    • Azlotto
Lol...In the right hands, bananas are deadly.
    • Mircat
Guns are also used for targets shooting and it has nothing to do with killing.
    • Sandra Ursula
Fruit isn't much of a weapon. Guns are great for self-defense.
  • In the late 70's. My dad had a few guns. I have no use for them. When I accidentally killed a little bird with a bb gun as a kid, I vowed not to take the life of an animal unless I honored the sacredness of life, offered gratitude and made use of the animal. Since i don't need to hunt to live, and live in a part of the world that is safe and secure(for the most part) there is no interest in guns.
    • Azlotto
      Thanks for your answer.
    • CosmicWunderkind
As an after posting look at your answer, you wrote exactly what I did with the bird! Guns are just killers. I hate them.
    • Sandra Ursula
Guns are great for self-defnse. You may need one some day. I grew up hunting. Nothing is wrong with it. Humans have neen hunting since they evolved.
    • Roaring
To Cosmic We have that in common. I still remember seeing the indent of the bb impact on the side of his beek the little sparrow. He must have had a heart attack. ........................................................To Sandra Yes, nothing wrong with hunting done with care, skill and respect. As far as self defense, I would rather develop deescalation skills to neutralize aggression before an aggressors impulse to use violence. A big part of that is mastering a calm and confident presence.
  • I am English and we do not have any guns here.
    • Azlotto
      You live in the UK?
    • beaker95
You got that right, big buddy.
    • Azlotto
Do you know the UK has an NRA? http://www.nra.org.uk/
    • beaker95
I do now. And my world is poorer for it.
    • Linda Joy
So... how has that changed the overall crime rates in London? Have they gone down? Or have y'all never been able to have guns?
    • Hardcore Conservative
Stand by, beaker.... The mayor is now trying to ban knives. Pick up a ball-bat to defend yourself, until those are banned too.
    • Sandra Ursula
I heard the murder rate in London was worse than in New York. People kill whether they have guns or not.
  • An air rifle about 1975 and I beaned the little bird in the tree. Never again!
    • Azlotto
      Thanks for your answer.
  • A while ago but going next week to shoot a friend's gun
    • Azlotto
      What kind of gun? Thanks.
    • Rose Mystery
different ones. never know until i show up. its funny cause you have to hold your own ears when someone fires the rounds. the one shooting has nothing to cover ears with. AR is nice but can make someones ears ring for a while. will have to let you know what kind of guns are used when i return.
    • Linda Joy
You should always wear ear protection when shooting in close spaces. I'd advise ear plugs AND ear muffs when shooting indoors.
  • A couple months ago at the range.
    • Azlotto
      Thanks.
  • This past weekend. I have quite a few, including a few of the dreaded AR-15s. My personal favorite is my Springfield M1A.
    • Azlotto
      M1A, nice...Thank you
  • Never, and I feel happy for that.
    • Azlotto
Don't knock it till you try it. Thanks for your answer.
  • 2016 was the last time. I was born in Japan where we are not allowed to own guns.. I decided to live in the USA. I had an American boyfriend who owned many guns. Later, I married another American, but we divorced in 2016. The last guns I fired were some of his.
    • Azlotto
"The last guns I fired were some of his" ...What did you think about shooting a firearm?..Thank you.
  • Just the other day, went practicing
    • Azlotto
      Thanks for your answer.

      Thanks for your answer.
    • Sandra Ursula
I have used guns since I was a small child. I grew up on a farm. I went hunting a lot.
  • Last weekend at my parents' farm. If I'm on the farm, I shoot some every day.
  • Never Ever
  • From the majority of the comments here too many think guns (firearms) are too dangerous to own or shoot. Most of these people only know about firearms from what they see on TV news and violent crime programs on TV or movies. There has to be some blame also on video games that contain violent formats. In the wrong hands firearms are dangerous as those whom are dangerous are usually involved in crime. In the proper hands firearms are used for protection from those who misuse firearms in the commission of a crime and also for hunting of game for food and target shooting for fun or in competition. During a time of war firearms are used for defense of country. Guns are only bad when misused.
  • Never! I have absolutely no desire to shot a gun EVER!
