Because He gave us the freedom to choose, and we chose to wilfully disobey His commandment. That introduced sin into our lives, and it has been in our lives ever since. I know this is short and concise, but I hope it helps.

Mankind was indeed created in God's image, but that image was never "complete"...in other words, we were never exactly like God. We were given some of His attributes, but not His character. The images of God in man is now marred by sin. Adam and Eve were sin-free at one point...but they had the capacity, as God intended, to choose to do wrong. They did, and things changed.

How would one know love if they did not know hate ? How would one know good if they did not know evil ? God created us in his image. We are also creators as we are made in his image. We are here to experience. Knowing love is not the same as experiencing love. Our purpose here is to experience love, to remember who we really are. My opinion, man created sin to try to justify in our own minds the thinking of something as GREAT as God. God is perfect. God knows all. Why would God create a being which he knew would sin. God knows the past, the present and the future - he KNEW Eve would sin if this is the truth. The answer would be free choice. BUT, how loving is a God who gives one free choice, but then condemns one for making the wrong choice? That is not God. God is perfect, God created perfect beings. Remember we are eternal. Man can not even fathom eternity, how can one fathom the love of God. God is pure love- truth, joy, love - this is God. God is not wielding a sword over his creation - would you condemn your children to an eternity of pain and suffering if they made a wrong choice ? No, you love them, as God loves you. Sin - there is nothing you can do which will condemn you to hell. I realize this goes against the very fear based religion of Christianity and Muslims. Does that make murder, rape etc alright then - no. Our purpose is to EXPERIENCE true love, true joy. committing acts which are not these will prevent you from what your soul truly desires, to Love as God loves. You can call it Karma or whatever you desire, but there are ramifications for actions taken. One thing you can be assured of, you will never be condemned to a place like hell (unless you CHOOSE to do this to yourself - God won't) You do have an eternity to get it right, because in the end, deep in our souls, we all strive for the same thing - to know a love unlike any other - to be as God intended and once again be perfect - it is just up to YOU how long it will take you to get there and also up to YOU the path you desire to take. God is pure love. He did not make us in order to condemn us if we did not obey him perfectly. That is just a man made god.

The real question is, if God created us in his image why dont we all look the same?

Having the “image” or “likeness” of God means, in the simplest terms, that we were made to resemble God. Adam did not resemble God in the sense of God’s having flesh and blood. Scripture says that “God is a spirit” (John 4:24) and therefore exists without a body. However, Adam’s body did mirror the life of God, insofar as it was created in perfect health and was not subject to death. The image of God refers to the immaterial part of man. It sets man apart from the animal world, fits him for the “dominion” God intended (Genesis 1:28), and enables him to commune with his Maker. It is a likeness mentally, morally, and socially.

If we were all created in his own image, then why don't we all have big beards?

Because of the fall, you know when Eve ate that apple in genesis, everything went crap after. That was in the days when God was a big ol meanie. In fact, God being a big 'ol meanie. Hmmmm. maybe that is why. God is not without his sins. Then it was the church that decided we should be punished for our sins. Man what a mess. Now I see why there are so many Atheists about. This religion makes no sense!

If god created man in his image, we have more than returned the favor

Our first parents said "yes" to the father of lies causing man to fall under the curse of Gen 3. All of us are born with that same nature.

In the original creation, man was made free of sin. In the Garden of Eden both man and woman were made without sin. When eve was decieved by the serpent, she brought sin into her life. When adam, who was not decieved by the serpent, voluntarily ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, in order to share eve's fate, he brought sin into his life. In this way we are all heirs of the sin nature that was in adam and eve.

This means we are moral creatures. We care about justice and what is right. We spend millions of dollars to catch a criminal, because of this trait. Animals don't set up court systems, or even know they have a appointment with death. God has written His moral Law on our hearts and put it in our conscience. Our conscience tells us when we have done wrong. Romans 2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another; God didn't make us into robots, He gave us free choice. He could have made us so we all worshiped and praised Him, but He wanted us to do it willingly. God bless.

Adam and Eve were the only humans made in the image of God. All other humans were born in the image of Adam, and eve after they sinned. A few years later, Jesus, the Son of God, was born in the image of God. The Image of God has to do with sin. Adam, Eve and Jesus were humans who were born without sin, or the desire to sin. God made man in His image, meaning we look like Him we have a face, a body etc.. We are born sin free, however our own choices lead us to commit sin.
