No, and I don't think I shall ever do it! Bits here and there but that's it for me. Too tiring ;-)
-
Yes I have. Its really interesting. But then I am a Bibliophile.
-
My Mom has.
-
Yes I have. I read the Bible when I was in my teens.
-
i have,a few times.i ve owned quite a few editions of the Bible,i went through a 16 year phase where spirituality was the only thing that was important to me.
-
Yes, several times. ANd one time I even read it out loud to my husband while we drove in the car. We like to read to each other as we drive and through the years have read libraries worth of books together. It was his idea to read it out loud and he insisted I not glance over or skip the 'boring' passages like in Numbers or the hard names to pronounce. I got real good at understanding how to pronounce them and now I'm really happy he insisted. It was fun! And I got more out of it, could see how things flowed reading it that way.

Yes I have. I was very surprised, in fact, at what I found and didn't find in it. I think anyone who wants to truly know God can only do so by a complete study of the bible. And not with some one else telling you what it says but with you relying on the Holy Spirit for his guidance to tell you what it is God wants to tell you personally. It's a wonderful thing when you do that.
-
I read the end first to find out what happened. I was wrong I thought it would have been the butler who did it.
-
I'm currently working on it! I have read about 75% in the last 21 months, and hope to have it finished in under 2 years.
-
No, I don't much trust the authors.
-
Not completely, I started in the New Testament, finished it and then started with the Old Testament. I am at Psalms 35. I try to read at least two chapters a day. I had tried several times starting at Genesis, but just never made it through. A friend suggested starting at Matthew and it seems to have worked. I am enjoying it completely. In His service, <:))))<>< "Better is one day in the courts of the Lord than thousands elsewhere..." Psalm 84:10

I'll answer my own question; I just finished my 6th time through, front to back! I love it! Of course I've studied particular subjects and read individual books on their own too, but I really enjoy reading it straight through so that I don't inadvertantly miss anything. It helps me get the big picture. It's heartening to see that others have actually read their bible. I often wonder what people base their beliefs on if they haven't read it themselves. What's taught isn't always accurate. Happy reading people!
-
Yes, numerous times. In various different translations. Once I read the 1611 Geneva version. It took getting used to, but was interesting to see the different interpretations somewhat. At the moment I prefer using the ESV because it's easier for my daughter to understand.
-
I have lost track of how many times i've read it. Reading various translations and reading it in different orders has helped me a lot. Now i have a schedule that gets me through it in about 3 years. I truly believe that it is good to read it just like a book and also to study it topically, as a textbook or manual. As you do both these things, they will build on each other. As you understand better who's who and the overall theme of the Bible (vindication of God's sovereignty by means of the Kingdom and secondarily the restoration of man and earth) even the 'boring' parts like the begats and the details of the temple and such take on meaning. Commendation to all you who have read some or all of the greatest book. It has the answers to every truly important question you can ask.
-
No, but I would love to!
-
I'm in the process. I've read through the New Testament once before. Starting from Genesis Ch.1 on up, I'm in I Chronicles in the Old Testament right now, and I (reading through the New Testament once again) am in I Corinthians in the New Testament. I've not yet read the entire Old Testament. -In the Master's service. Thank you and God bless you!
-
No, but I have read enough to know that it contains many words of wisdom, a lot of detailed stories and some inaccuracies, inconsistencies and exaggerations and a few rather unholy acts couched in unholy language.
-
No because i just dont agree with everything in the bible and dont think that everything in the bible God said. It's man
-

-

Yes I have, eight times through so far. By the end of 2008, I will have read the Bible through ten times. One thing that Jehovah’s Witnesses do is read the Bible at home and then together in the congregation. “Your word is truth.” (John 17:17)
-
Several versions, several times. I've also read a few different translations of the Q'uran, I've read the Book of Mormon parts of the Talmud. And I recently downloaded, but have not read the "missing" books of the bible from the Dead Sea Scrolls.
-
yes a few times as a matter of fact.
-
Several times over.
-
The Christian Bible, I have read in its entirety. I know more about that religion than most Christians who claim to be God-fearing.
-
Yes I have read the Bible completely several times since 1980. I feel that it is important to read it cover to cover at least every 7 years. I'm currently hosting a group that is reading it and discussing it together.
-
yes. but that doesnt mean a thing if you dont study and understand it.
-
Hell, no! That's the only reason why I still have a half a mind left

-
I have read it through several times.
-
Yes, it is worth the read.
-
Of course, but not all the way through. I just can't get past some of the Old Testament stuff.
-
+3 Many times and a number of different versions. The problem is that the more you read it the less credible it becomes. You also realize that much of what the church teaches as being the central tenats of modern christianity are not actually in the bible or are at best mentioned in only the briefest and marginal of ways.
