  • For me, a homeless person doesn't need a sign for me to help them. I am naturally inclined to give at least some money to them.
  • "I don't want your money, I want change." I saw this somewhere, and I thought it would be the only way I would be inclined to help someone, becuase it's not money they *really* need, it's a change for themselves, and more people should be willing to help in that manner.
  • If they ask for food, I am very glad to give them food. Sometimes they are outside grocery stores, and ask for a sandwich. I buy them a sandwich.
  • I usually buy lunch for people who seem like they need it or if they ask. No sign necessary. But I don't like giving out money, because I'm under the impression that a lot of homeless people (not all, I'm sure) would buy alcohol or drugs and I'd rather see my money well spent.
  • Why should they need a sign for me to help them? Hell, if they're homeless and broke, you can't exactly expect them to have the money for a big piece of posterboard and a decent marker, now can you? Although I think the message that would tug at my sympathies the most would be something like "Help; Broke, hungry, alone in the world"
  • i dont really pay attention to their signs. but if im walking around and see a homeless dude i give him what i can. cigs, change, or even food if im carrying it on me. last time i saw one i was with my friend and my brother. we were just hangin out in front of a kroger and we were also broke. well i stole a big bag of chips and a can of cheese whiz and started snackin. but when we saw the bum we gave it to him because he needed it more than us and deserved it a hell of alot more.
  • No sign needed, believe it or not. If I have it to give, I will.
  • I want a job.
  • "Keep your coins, I need change" It really worked for me, I phoned some friends and that person end up in a hostel that night, the following day he had an interview with a case worker from Social Services.
  • No need for a sign. If I can help, I will. More often than not, I will give food, not money, and direct them to services that can give ongoing help.
  • I promise to get a job and pay you back with interest,I'm begging for food ,not crack!
  • Can you help me?
  • Please help if you can. Have a good day.
  • Will work for food. I don't let them do the work though I just pass a 20 their way telling them to go get a hot meal.
  • My husband always gives money if we have it, or food if we've just stopped somewhere. I never stop if I'm alone... just a my-own-safety thing... We do give food to a homeless man near us regularly, and my husband's practice pad is in a storage facility... there are about five or six guys that LIVE there. My hubby brings them burgers and beer every once in a while, and they hang out and listen to the music. It's not much, but it's what we can do for them. Sometimes they just need to feel like normal people, not like bums.
  • I am naturally more inclined to give money to people I feel are like me. To that end, a sign like "need money for Mario Kart" would work well.
  • "video games are cool. specially tomb raider, silent hill , god of war and prince of persia and sims2. Now please help me"
  • I generally won't give to people with signs. The only chance of getting help from me right now, with my current means in combination with my current free time, is to come ask me personally. In those cases, I only give if it is clear that the need really exists. The most common beggar I run into is the one asking for gas money. Very rarely is this near their car (because usually they're lying to me). So, I ask them to take me to their car or offer to go get gas for them myself. Lo and behold... nobody seems to be willing do that. A few weeks ago, I did run into some people who were obviously living in their car. They got a little help from me and I was happy to see that they actually bought some gas. I'll also help out less needy people if I trust that the need is real. The issue is trust, which I don't get from a sign.
  • I try to help them by giving out the business cards that are provided by our local homeless support agency. It has the information they need for transportation, shelter and food. My son once gave his whole allowance (4 quarters) to a beggar outside the grocery store. When we stopped in for pizza after shopping, the guy was there, feeding my son's quarters into the arcade machine. So much for feeding the hungry!
  • "Please volunteer to help me have a better life" I volunteer rather than dole out spare change.
  • " Why lie, I need a beer!" I gave him a dollar.
  • Need no sign, If its complete and if can work, won't do!! period, most of the time but if in a really need of quick help I'm there, but if is short of some part of the body, someone who really needs it, is a must!.
  • They dont need a sign for me to help nor do I worry about were the money goes if i have it and i see they are in need i help, because we never know when we may fall down on our luck. And you never know it could be an angel.
  • If the sign makes me laugh, you've got it. I tend to like the "Ninjas killed my family, need money for kung-fu lessons" sign.
  • I need a job.
  • Need money for food.
  • Nothing, It is my duty to help those less fortunate, it is also mentioned in the Bible.
  • Not saying they need a sign, but one I'd fall out laughing to see: "I know where you live"
  • "I plan to get drunk and sleep under an overpass while freezing my ass off. Give me a damn dollar." Afterall, honesty is the best policy.
  • i would probablly give him/her money even if he didnt have a sign. but funny signs are always the best. i saw a homeless man with a sign that said spare change for a sex change. so i gave him $5
  • My kids need to be fed.
  • Well, I know a lot of those homeless men are Vietnam Vets which is a shame since they not only sacrifice their lives but their family life and freedom, so just as a reminder if some of those signs read " I gave the ultimate sacrifice for your freedom so now please help me".
  • They dont need a sign. Look at them, look at their health, look at their clothes, get them a cup of tea, something to eat and give them a few pound and/or offer to help.
  • HELP haha no but no sign really needed all people have to do is ask :]
