  • the origin of the Korean surname ì‹  is the Chinese character 申, or è¾›, or 愼
  • There are apparently two lines of the Shin ancestry. One is the Pyeongsan Shin, the other is Goryeong Shin. The Pyeongsan Shin's are said to be descendants of Shin Sung-Gyeom, a general that was known for his shooting ability and had saved the life of Taejo of Goryeo in a difficult battle with Hubaekje clan. Pyeongsan Shin's account for about 70% of Shin's.
