I always recommend "Blue Like Jazz" and "Searching for God Knows What" both my Donald Miller. They're awesome books. Right now I'm reading "Captivating" by John and Stasi Eldredge, which is mindblowingly amazing and beautiful. I just read two books by Jodi Picoult, who is very gifted. "My Sister's Keeper" is outstanding. It's about a girl who was genetically chosen by her parents to be a match to donate stem cells to her sister, who has leukemia. She spends her whole life giving donations of all kinds to save her sister, and now, a kidney is needed. She files for medical emancipation. It's a thinker! As is the other one I read by her, "Nineteen Minutes", which is about a school shooting. She's an amazing writer, who really makes you think about things you never thought you'd have to rethink. Go check them out!

Right now I'm almost done with "The Last Knight: The Twilight of the Middle Ages and the Birth of the Modern Era" by Norman Cantor, the pre-eminent historian. It's an outstanding look at the end of the medieval age and the birth of the modern era, and concerns John of Gaunt in particular. I would absolutely recommend it to a friend, but I don't know of too many who would go for a non-fiction historical work outside my history department. Which is a shame. It's fascinating, well researched, and very readable. But my all time favorite novel is "Pride and Prejudice" by Austen. I'm a dork that way.
