  • There are 2 possible answers to this. What you're SUPPOSED to figure out is the square footage of the glass you have to buy. Since the glass is a triangle, you can use the formula for the area of a triangle: Area = 1/2 base x height Area = 1/2 30 x 20 Area = 15 x 20 Area = 300 square feet. Then 300 square feet at $3 per square foot = $900.00 However, this MIGHT be a trick question, because you most likely would not be able to buy a triangular piece of glass. You'd probably have to buy a rectangular piece and cut it into a triangle yourself. If that was the case, then you'd have to pay for the whole rectangular piece. And you'd figure the cost by figuring how many square feet would be in the rectangle. In that case, Area = base x height = 30 x 20 = 600 square feet. And 600 square feet x $3 per square foot = $1800.00 for the rectangular piece.
  • I agree with anguilla except that I would never attempt to cut a 20 ft x 30 ft triangular shape without specialized equipment and an appropriate amount of space.
