At times like these, we feel each others pains with the recession (I lost a couple of jobs) on and going leading us to try to make ourselves and other people feel better by having a good time... which may be hard, but we're trying or atleast I am.

Because largely we're as dumb as a bag o' hammers, satisfied with an all-you-can-eat buffet and some mind-numbing television? ;-)

Haha maybe its true... there were a crazy amount of Americans at both my unis, and all but one I met were very cheery! Maybe its because Americans have optimism ingrained, (the British have self-depreciation and modest negativity ingrained)!

Because things could be so much worse, I'm greatful for what I have and optimistic about what could be.

Because Americans can afford to be care free. The cheerful attitude makes it easier to afford being even more care free! Its a principle that has worked to perfection, I would imagine.

I wouldn't say we're all cheery, but usually we're pretty positive. We have a lot to be grateful for and smile about. It doesn't happen when the alarm clocks ring.
