The answer to this probably depends on political/social leanings: To the right-wing christian type, it is "the fruit of islam" To the anti-gun type it is "the fruit of guns being too easily accessible" To some it is a "the fruit of failure of the military to properly screen people". To the far left it is a the "fruit of anger of oppressed people". The bottom line is , no matter what spin one chooses to cast on it, many are dead and grieving for them and it sucks that people will always use tragedy to push their political/religious views.

Yes. . The traitor had a conflict between his allegiences to the USA and to Islam. He chose Islam. That would have been fine - if it were only a matter of faith. He could have resigned his commission. He could have simply refused to obey orders and served a term in jail. . When he chose Islam, however, he acted according to the obligations a Muslim has to Allah, specifically to Jihad in defense or advancement of Islam and its goal to dominate the earth. . Thus, the attack is completely and only a result or fruit of Islam. .

In a way yes. One of them. When a religious fanatic gets it into his head that the patient path isn't productive. sort of like shooting abortion doctors in churches.
