Letting go and trusting they have learned what you've tried to instill and that they will be OK.

My child is only a year old but so far the hardest part for me is not being able to take away all her hurts. When she was so sick recently with what we thought was cancer it almost killed me because no matter what I did I couldn't take that away from her or make her better.

Helping them understand that they are one member of a family, community, and universe, not the center of it. I realize this contradicts some current child-raising techniques! +4

Spending the first 18 years telling them they are too young and then starting to tell them they are old enough to look after themselves. Being able to give them room to grow into a person in their own right Knowing that whatever you do is bound to be wrong.

I have no children, but I think something difficult would be to allow them to make mistakes and learn from them, rather than doing what you can to avoid the danger like you would want to.

Letting them make their own mistakes, as well as learn from them. And not giving in to the need to hover over them every second of the day.(Well thats mine anyway) +4
