Of course. If you aren't willing to protect the lives of the things you take under your wing of responsibility you shouldn't be having a pet. And personally, I'd do anything for my animals, they are living breathing things, and just because they don't speak english (well, most of them don't, I had the company of a bird who did ^^D) they are still lives.

In a heartbeat. We spent over $3K in 2007 alone for vet bills. He's like my 3rd child (well 4th if you count hubby, lol) & I'd do anything for him.

Yes. You have to be careful though and breathe very gently. Some experts recommend different methods, like I've read about an AR method for rabbits where you hold them by the legs and gently rock them back and forth -- the air enters the lungs more gently that way, apparently. Not knowing much about it, I'd opt for the mouth-to-mouth method, but gently.
