  • Well, it is a good investment, and you don't have to beg the landlord to get things fixed,...(though it can be expensive when you have to pay for it yourself). You can do pretty much what you want as far as decoration and changes (if you can afford it). You can plant a vegetable garden. It is a good investment. You can play your music as loud as you want. (Neighbors are usually far away enough that they don't get annoyed). You can also have parties without worrying about the cops being called (usually). And it is a good investment. You can put a swimming pool in your back yard. You can go outside naked (if you have a high board fence). It is a good investment. You can sit on your stoop, porch, patio, and drink your grog and say, "This is all mine...This is my Castle! I am the Master of all I survey"....and actually believe it...(till your tax notice from the county comes in the mail). And it is a good investment.
  • You can actually take rent money and invest it in something you will own, you can decide how to change it up (paint, colors, etc) without having to get anyone else's permission, you can have as many pets as you choose (a lot of rentals won't even let you have one)

  • Once it's paid for; it's yours and you have something to leave your children even if you don't have much of anything else. You can decorate any way you want to, do anything you want to and have people over (even into the middle of the night if you want); as long as it's legal. As time passes and rents get higher; if you were smart enough to get the right type of loan, your mortgage payment stays the same. So as the years pass and you make a larger income at work and inflation grows; you have the same amount to pay each month, leaving you more money to do other things with. By the time you retire, your loan is paid off and you don't have to worry about rent money; just the taxes and upkeep. It's easier to get a loan (maybe not at this moment) if you have real collateral. Many more...
