Never had a secret sign. But the cross-eyed, glazed over look works well.

I didn't have a sign. I would just say "Well we'd better get going" or he would say it. Now of course I say it to myself. lol +5

I have a certain "look" of desperation. Words are not needed, nor are gestures. I give him "the look" and very shortly thereafter he engineers our departure. :)

I would never feel that I had to have one. When I leave, I say, "it was great fun but it was just one of those things" and off I go.

My wife usually uses the kids as an excuse: "Come on darling, the babysitter's time is up". If that doesn't work, a kick in the shins usually does the trick. (just kidding).
