  • To see how the other half lives!!
  • Because they are secretly hoping they can become convinced God exists.
  • cuz they think they are so bad ass, making fun of our beliefs and stuff...HEY all you atheists! and people who want a good laugh, go to youtube, and search up Dane Cook The Atheists Sneeze..... :P that'l show you
  • You are aware that answers from all categories pop up on the main page right? And some people answer questions as they pop up right away from all categories. I could also ask why my anti-religious answers always seem to get downrated.......
  • It's in our nature as humans to argue or at least state a point!
  • I, like some others around here, find religious debates, and also just plain learning about Christian beliefs interesting. I am not here to put people down, judge, or abuse another for his/her Christian belief... I just find these questions to be some of the most informative and interesting =) Besides, Christianity affects atheists just as it does Christians.
  • Because it helps reinforce our faith in the concept of atheism.
  • Nothing better to do.
  • Because the questions wallpaper the front page nearly 24/7. Also, because moral/ethical/religious debating can be a great stress reliever. 'Tis true.
  • I think because they're looking for a fight. But by "fight" I mean a whole spectrum of things. At one end is people truly full of aggression and looking to cause upset. I know those people exist! But they aren't really that common. For most people, what I mean by "fight" is really just conversation or debate. Humans are social people and we work out our inner selves through interaction with others -- we discern where we fit (or don't fit). Speaking with people who hold different beliefs than you do can really help you hone your thoughts on a particular issue.
  • Perhaps they are trying to save people from ignorance, superstition and myth? Maybe they find limited thinking amusing? Perhaps because they are using God's greatest gift, free will?
  • Perhaps it's revenge for all of the Bible-based answers in the science categories.
  • Some if not most of them are not atheists at all, but trolls simply looking to start a fight with easy targets. They know its a subject that spurs on emotional responses from many, so what better place to troll. Others may simply have the desire to understand and perhaps are drawn to the religious questions maybe hoping to find a bit of knowledge.
  • I do it to NOT give you kristshuns a free pass to spread your propaganda unfettered to poison more young, innocent minds.
  • To get their own back for being disturbed by proselytisers every two minutes while they're trying to entertain guests.
  • I have never 'hung out' in 'Christian catagories(sp)'. It is just hard to avoid the endless stream of the questions appearing on the main page. About half seem to start with "Why do atheists..."
  • Because we can.
  • Because anyone can "hang out" wherever they want here ... unless they're under 18. Then they aren't supposed to be in the Adult area.
  • They like proving hypocrites wrong?
  • They have to convince themselves that they are smarter than Christians but fail to realize that they are bucking up against the wisdom of God. God makes their wisdom to be foolish because for all of their learning they never come into the knowledge of Him who created them. Their learning and contentions reinforce the foolish notion that there is no God.
  • Christian forums are a good place to troll. If Christians were not so responsive and irrational, then atheists wouldn't bother.
  • Because it's a great place for some spirited conversation! (no pun intended) Atheists, agnostics, and Christians, many of us like to discuss and debate issues of religion and worldview. And many questions that get asked in this area are open to answers from either believers or non-believers.
  • Becuse they are arrogant, condescending, intolerant and insecure people, who like to provoke Christians into geting into no-win mind masturbating arguments and to simply feel superior to us. its really nothing more than a lack of maturity and a lack of tolerance for others with different beliefs; its funny they criticize christians for being intolerant, yet do the same thing they bitch about when given the chance. hypocrites the whole lot of them.
  • If you mean on AB... then I don't, I just answer what's on my homepage feed, as I'm sure a lot of people do.
  • Because like minds think alike. Both think they have found the answer and can't wait to celebrate their brilliance with the rest of us dim wits.
  • For the same reason Christians "hang out" in the atheist section.
  • To try and show them how much hypocrisy there is to that religon. How much religon and the belief in god holds back progress and the search for scientific truth. How it controls people and takes away not only their freedom of choice but the desire for freedom. The list goes on, it's like deprogramming, maybe if we hit something inside those people's brains they will think for themselves. They will see how ridiculously archaic the teachings and beliefs are.
  • Probably because the Atheism section is boring. It's not much of a going concern if you hadn't already noticed. Just my opinion of course.
  • For the same reason religious people come to the door with pamphlets. Trying to spread what they believe to be truth. We're all a bunch of assholes who don't really know anything...that's gonna be the pamphlets I hand out.
  • If I am bored and in the mood for a circular arguement that can't be solved with closed minds on both sides, its just the cool spot to hang out. :P
  • While I don't hang out in any religious section, I will answer a religious question if I see it on the main page. On numerous boards, including this one, I've seen theists, primarily Christians, repeatedly comment that atheists know nothing of their religion, have no morals, are led by the devil, are evil, are arrogant, are condescending, and are universally intolerant of their beliefs. Simply said, this is not so. I was raised to be a Christian, so I am quite familiar with the religion and am qualified, to a certain extent, to answer question regarding Christianity. Also, I am at least as moral as any other person. I don't intentionally hurt people, I help if I can, and I would like nothing more than to live in a world free of war, famine, and despair. Since this is the case, I see no reason why I should be considered immoral. Furthermore, as there is no evidence for any deities, there is also no evidence for any beings which might oppose them. Therefore, the assumption that I am led by the devil is, to put it mildly, preposterous. As far as evil is concerned, any Christian who believes I am evil simply because I don't share their belief in deities should direct their attention toward Westboro Baptist Church if they wish to see what evil looks like. Arrogance and condescension? Well, I'm not the one who claims to have all the answers about life, the universe and everything, nor do I presume to know the needs, demands, and desires of any deity which might preside over them, nor do I condemn people to eternal torment for simply disagreeing with me. Those people who do these things are arrogant and condescending. Finally, as far as intolerance is concerned, atheists like myself do not intrude on people's privacy by knocking on doors, attempting to convert them to our way of thinking, then telling them they will be punished for failure to do so. We don't protest medical clinics, murder doctors, or proselytize on street corners and chastise those who refuse to listen. We don't murder in the name of religion, we don't bomb marketplaces, and we don't fight holy wars. The people who do are theists. In conclusion, I will state that the reason I interact with theists in general is not because I wish to insult them or tell them they are foolish for believing in god, not to try to convince them that their beliefs are absolutely false, nor to make them feel as if they should not be tolerated, but to show them that atheists can be every bit as intelligent and moral as any theist, and that not everyone needs religion to care about the world or live a good life.
  • I do notice that the ones that I see in the Christian cat. all the time, are not answering.
  • Misery loves company. That pretty much levels the playing field for both sides. Honestly, I am so disappointed in my Christian counterparts! I never witness so much spite and venom, than what comes from a true believer. If our goal is to become more Christ-like, I'm afraid we've fallen woefully short. +5
  • Hi,I believe deep inside of them there's the need to believe in something, something that will fill that hole, that emptyness .I know a lot of people who are atheist (USED TO BE ONE) and do like fighting and making fun just to put to the test their faith and to see what expression we make ,but when they see we are convinced and that have joy they feel jealous because they don't have that. There's always a time for every one to come to the Lord.God will be the one to open the heart of this people ,just like he did with one friend of mine that laughed at me,He started seeing the miracles, started feeling the joy started feeling the Holy spirit and left the life of criminal he wanted to live(for he was hired to kill people, but ended up in prison for breaking parole, before he started doing the killing.)He changed and didnt know why he was like that before,I guess the evil spirits that dwelt inside each human being.I witnessed when 9 Spirits went out of Him,how he was freed.I'll tell you guys later the whole story.I am just glad that at least they hear the word of God which is sharper than a knife and cuts deep inside the soul.God bless you all!
  • Because it's like shooting fish in a barrel :D. Lol.
  • To give the truth about the reality of there being no god. I don't believe in the tooth fairy either.
  • 1) Thank you for not misspelling the word "atheists". 2) They come here to answer this kind of questions (it is about atheists, but asked in "Christianity » Beliefs"). 3) Many users look at the questions on the home page, they are not only looking inside a particular category. Militant atheists are particularly interested in questions about religion. And they have certainly something to say about it. Atheists who post in the Christian categories present there their own views on Christian issues. Remember, this is a free forum: anyone can post in any category.
  • I believe it's because they are truly seeking the TRUTH, yet are afraid to admit they are wrong. They may believe that there COULD be a God, Heaven, and Hell, and they probably have a true fear of what will actually happen to them after death. Yet, because they care more about what the world thinks of them, they choose to bash Christians for their happiness and faith. They want what Christians have, yet are afraid to take that step to get it.
  • They are looking for God.
  • Stirring the sh*t. +4
  • Because they have been provoked and downrated for expressing their opinions.
  • They don't. The "christian" questions are broadcast in a general category after a time.
  • Because it gives them a boner telling Christians they're wrong all the time.
  • Regardless of their seemingly unyielding stance against Christianity, somewhere deep, deep down inside their hearts and brains, athiests are not truly and completely satisfied with their lack(?)of belief. Inwardly they are seeking that true spiritual "something" ... but want it to be on their own terms and conditions.
  • they're looking for someone to help then know Christ.
  • Why do so many "Christians " hang out in the atheist, Islam and LGBT sections?
  • divine intervention
  • because they are not real atheists. they are Christian Atheists. The more they hang with Christians the better chance they will become Christians full on. When Christians pray for the conversion of atheists, they are doomed to become Christians. not a bad thing. Elohim-Jehovah draws people to him.
  • Because we're looking for a coherent discussion that supports Christianity.
