  • Clinton wasn't impeached for having an affair he was impeached for lying under oath. Has Sanford done that yet?
  • Absolutely! The sad part about it, he wouldn't have come clean if he hadn't of been "busted".
  • HELLZ YEAH!
  • Somewhat. Both parties are hypocritical when it comes to these types of things. The pot always calls the kettle black. I would point out though that Clinton was impeached for perjury and not the actual affair, which he could have easily avoided by coming clean like Sanford did.
  • No, he was a hypocrite before, during and after that time period. The mans a politician being a hypocrite is a prerequisite for the job.
  • Of course. Before you go out on a which hunt, you ought to check your own house for brooms.
  • Sounds pretty hypocritical to me.
  • Since we don't know if he had strayed from his wife back in the Clinton years, I'll give him a pass on that. But he did publicly declare that Clinton should resign. Now that he's guilty of even worse offenses than Clinton, he is a hypocrite for refusing to follow his own advice.
  • Flat out,YES! the bum!
  • Considering the fact that conservatives loose on the morality front, hands down, why would anyone still be surprised?
  • We are all hypocrites. Some of us just like coochie more than others. :)
  • He saw what it did for Clinton and figured he could use the bump.
  • Yeah, that meets the definition.
  • Yes, and even worse he used taxpayers money to pay for the trips to Argentina since one year ago!
  • Most people seem to not understand the Clinton impeachment, but it wasn't about blowjobs but about lying under oath in front of the grand jury. Needless to say, I think Sanford should resign more on the grounds of irresponsibility of disappearing without notifying even the Lt. Governor moreso than the affair.
  • Clinton's impeachment wasn't about an extramarital affair, it was about committing perjury.
  • Clinton was impeached for lying to a Federal Grand Jury, NOT for having an affair. I love how the clinton supporters try to make his crimes seem like some sort of personal sex issue. If you or I would have done what Clinton did we would still be in Federal prison begging mommy to please send us soap on a rope so we don't drop it. There is no comparison here.
  • Well, he is human, just like the rest of us, and quite fallible. I don't think anyone should have voted to impeach Clinton, either, as that was just silly. However, all people should leave their relationship baggage at the door when they take public office, Sanford and Clinton both included. Short answer is, he is a hypocrite, but aren't we all? What's more funny to me is that Fox News keeps insisting that he's a democrat.
  • Well, I honestly have to say that he is human. He made a mistake. The difference between himself and Clinton is....He came out with it and admitted it openly and apologized to everyone that he hurt. He was remorseful. Clinton on the other hand, never had sex.....RIGHT! I mean the guy didn't know how to be honest about it if it would have hit him in the face! It shows a real difference in character to me. At least in my book there is a BIG difference.
  • no, he's a hypocrite for claiming the reason he wanted to impeach Clinton was the scandle.
  • While Sanford is undoubtedly something of a hypocrite - he is, after all, a career politician - he didn't vote to impeach Clinton for adultery but for: 1. PERJURY, 2. SUBORNING PERJURY, and 3. OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE... acts for which Clinton was eventually disbarred even after being "cleared" by the Senate. (And FYI, in a sexual harassment and assault case, the defendant’s/respondent's history of lechery and sexual misconduct - even inner-office hanky-panky - is most certainly material, and therefore it was perfectly appropriate - even ethically mandatory - for the prosecutor to ask Clinton if he had ever had sexual relations with Lewinsky.) Now if Sanford has committed any of those 3 acts, or has ever abused the power of office to (1) violate a woman sexually, and (2) to keep her quiet, then that would put him in the same category as Clinton and thus add to his hypocrisy-index, but I haven't heard anyone charging him with those.
  • Yes. And what surprises me, is some of his fellow Gop'ers are calling for him to be held to the same standard he wanted to apply to them. Hmmm.
  • Calling a Republican is a hypocrite is an oxymoron. It's part of the job, if they weren't hypocritical and corrupt, they wouldnt' be Republicans
  • Sanford is only a hypocrite if he lies under oath. NOBODY voted "to impeach Clinton for the Monica Lewinsky affair", as the question would dishonestly guide you to believe. The Clinton impeachment was over lying under oath, and obstructing a grand jury. Part of the context of those crimes was the Lewinsky affair, which itself *IS* just about sex.
  • Did he vote to impeach Clinton because of the affair or because of perjury? If I'm not mistaken I believe that Clinton was impeached for lying under oath. If Mark Sanford lied under oath I would expect that he will have to pay the price.
  • No. Just stupid.
  • i believe thats the definition right there lol
  • Its no excuse for moral behavior ...but he was not a man that was in the highest position in his country , in the white house ,right under his wife, child, and America's nose.... at least he did not lie when caught... and when a man asks forgiveness, and you withhold it, don't be expecting forgiveness of the Almighty....if you won't ,HE won't either.... did Jesse Jackson ever ask for forgiveness for his mistress, child and stealing charity money? i wonder if Obama will when he is BUSTED!!!naaaa, too arrogant....
  • I believe most politicians are hypocrites. I think it's a genetic disposition without which you cannot run for public office.
  • Of course its hypocritical, but its also politics as usual...remember, you're dealing with self-licking ice cream cones who have absolutely no sense of propriety, dignity or right v. wrong...they're interested in only themselves and no one or anything else beyond being re-elected, passing secret legislation in the middle of the night that raises their already exorbitant pay or getting in on whatever the lastest thing that comes around they can profit from. Wish we could flush them all down the toilet and start fresh.
