Never. They didn't even put me to bed, my sister did because it was on the 2nd floor and my mom had real bad legs. My dad was working when I went to sleep.

No, that didn't happen in my family. My Dad believed children should be seen and not heard and if he didn't do anything like that my Mum wasn't allowed to either.

(smile) Sometimes my mom would. I barely remember. But, my grandaddy was my babysitter at times and he would TELL me stories. I was amazed at how many he knew and could tell off the top of his head. I suspect that some were made up on the spot, as many of the main characters were named 'Tommy'. But, that is also a gift of a good storyteller...

Yes, my dad would read to me from a kiddy bible and my mom would read me stephen king and hp lovecraft. I was reading on my own by the time I was 2 and a half. A regular freak of nature. Consequently, I love reading today.
