  • Yes. Can you prove he does? http://godisimaginary.com/
  • atheists are interested in the truth..that includes examining all sides of the argument
  • I'm most certain he does not exist, but if REAL evidence is given other than "look around" or any excerpts from the bible or other things done by humans, I might change my mind. I have interest yes.
  • They're determined that there is no God.
  • From what I've seen, most atheists were once believers but stop believing once it made no sense to them. Usually atheists know more about God than believers do and that's why they don't believe.
  • No. Are you interested in learning if the Magic Buffaloes exist? The faithful speculate that they look like this... http://sustainablecommunitysolutions.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/buffalo.jpg ...but they are invisible, of course, so we can't know for sure. But we have faith, and we pray every day.
  • I'm always examining my beliefs and changing them when there is good evidence for a new belief. There is no good evidence for any god though. The writers of the Old Testament, claimed to see God on a regular basis, but there was nothing after that. Base your beliefs in the supernatural on faith if you want, but I won't.
  • I have a friend that is an atheist and he described it to me as being really terrifying. I think that he would be very interested in any hard proof that God exists. But he's not so interested in emotional accounts or accepting it "on faith" because obviously that's why he's an atheist. There are two types of atheism - negative and positive atheism. This is an important distinction that might shed light on the matter. Negative atheists believe that there is no hard proof that God exists (or doesn't exist), but are willing to change their mind if some proof comes their way. So, until further notice, they don't believe in God. Positive atheists believe that there is proof that there is no God. They have already made up their minds. They can be just as clingy to their beliefs as those who fundamentally believe in God.
  • I don't think they wish to ever be proven WRONG. You see, atheism is ILLOGICAL, because everything that exists, had to have a START. That means that some force or intellect had to CREATE that which now exists, and the "creating force" ALSO had to have a "start," and something had to create the "creating force." As it is written, "The banana did not self-create." Nothing did.
  • I think atheists know that it's impossible to proove that God exists. Like catholics say, it's a matter of faith and atheists don't have any. So they've already been there and already have an answer.
  • Let's have a look at this. Firstly we can't speak for atheists in general. That would be foolish. So in the following I am speaking of myself and people who are of similar opinions. Atheists have (by and large, there are exceptions) looked at the evidence and arguments, questioned the same, studied many points of view and thoughts on the issue, pondered the claims and come to the conclusion that they do not believe in the claims that gods exist. So are they interested in whether gods exist? Yes. Many atheists have spent a great deal of time studying the issue. They are just unconvinced by anything they have read, seen or heard etc. To have an opinion without examining the arguments for and against is all well and good but not a powerful reason for doing so. Do atheists want god to exist or not exist? That's a different matter. Some do, some don't. Sometimes atheists do get put off by being told things such as "you need to open you heart and if you don't you are not seeking truth" and so forth. This rankles as to most atheists personal feelings should not interfere with determining whether something does or does not exist. I despise racism but I cannot deny it exists. I would love for there to be no war but this is obviously not the case in reality. There are other arguments that sometimes irk atheists somewhat. So by and large we are interested but we are also sceptics and for extraordinary claims we require extraordinary evidence.
  • no,,,, have better things to do,,,,,
  • Though I try not to speak about atheists at large, in this case I feel safe in saying most probably don't any more that most people don't spend much time in finding out if The Fairy Godmother really exists. Why? +5
  • Most atheists would not be interested in that, because they don't think that God exists and would consider searching for any god to be a futile effort. Atheists who were once believers would be less inclined to try and find God, on account of whatever caused them to become atheists in the first place.
  • Of course. If it were true that God exists, any atheist would wich to know the facts. But the methods by which most believers wish to show that God exists will not convince atheists, and they are tired of believers constantly trying to convince by means which *cannot* work. You cannot prove God's existence by example of your own faith, be it ever so strong. You cannot prove it by quoting literature from hundreds of years ago written by people about whom we know nothing. You cannot prove Gods existence by saying that it is "obvious" that the world needs a creator - it is not obvious to atheists. To prove the existence of God, you would have to show something that /can not/ be put down to the workings of chance, and /can/ be detected outside your head. It is no use preaching, saying how wonderful you find your relationship with God, saying how prayer has helped you through dark times, and so on. Such things are all inside your head and inaccessible to me.
  • Unlike religion, most atheists have no common code or rules to be able to give a consensus view for atheists. It's like trying to speak for all people who don't believe in Santa Claus. I can say that many atheists have already tried to find out if God exists and found nothing , thus becoming atheists. I think most atheists would gladly accept rational, irrefutable proof if it were presented, but i doubt most will seek such a thing since it would be redundant. Even the atheists that never really sought God ( i know some people that were simply born into families that never really discussed the topic) often find the concept too silly to warrant research. Can't speak for everyone, but I suspect there are already similar answers.
  • Atheists are not interested. Besides, most christian beliefs started from Paganism. Wedding parties, Easter Bunny, Equinox, sacrifices, virgins, spirits, ghosts, priests, wine drinking, robes and worshipping a place. Etc, etc.
  • I don't speak for "atheists" only myself. I would examine the facts and do experiments to prove the existence of god. If there is one, it would probably very different from what is commonly believed. I find that very interesting. So there are really two questions which greatly interest me: Is there a god or gods? and What is god's nature? I support scientific but not philosophical study of the above questions. I need hard evidence.
  • If they were, they would probably be agnostics, not atheists. Most of the atheists I have spoken to are bound and determined that there is no intelligence responsible for the existence of the universe, the laws of physics, mathematics, energy, etc.
  • Only if the evidence is present.
  • "Finding out" if something exists is independent of faith. When we "found out" the world wasn't flat, there was no faith involved; it was just knowledge. Knowing for certain whether or not God exists would actually make faith impossible. The point of faith is not to know and to choose to believe anyway. If they have no faith in God, they don't need to "find out" about anything. They have already made their decision.
  • As an atheist, I require one thing, evidence. What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismmissed.
  • Sure. Any evidence that there is a god is welcome. I'm an atheist because none has been presented. +5
  • What would it matter if it did? Thousands of years ago we were led to believe that it showed itself through its actions and yet here we are debating its very existence without any feedback at all. Now we are supposed to take it on faith that it exists. What comes next? You don't even need faith? I have no interest either way.
  • Sure, I'd like to know for certain, wouldn't everybody? It wouldn't make any difference to me if he was real, but it's the 64,000,000 dollar question isn't it? If for no other reason than to end the endless speculation and put this matter behind all humanity it would be nice to know.
  • As an atheist, I know I would be very interested in any evidence that points toward the existence of a god. I'm not an atheist by choice, I'm an atheist by reason. If the evidence led me to theism, that is where I would go.
  • They have to be by childhood indoctrination of 'passive belief' (from gullible parents). Only when s/he sees through the preacher's bluff, one becomes an atheist. It is an active process that can happen at all calendar ages. * After that moment of realization, atheists move on to more interesting and rewarding pursuits than 'seeking god'.
  • They are bound and determined that God does not exist.
  • Bring it on! ...the evidence, if you can! * 10 proofs against existence of a ‘god-being’ 1. Non-humans who outnumber humans billion-to-one, don’t care for god in any way by prayer, worship, sacrifice / otherwise. 2. A particular god’s attributes are always reflected, or projected from —& limited to— those of its ‘prophets-priests-pimps’ & their believers. 3. If god can be ‘felt-in-heart’ or imagined-in-mind, so can be ‘devil’ & countless other emotions / concepts. 4. Humans who don’t care for god in any way by prayer, etc are unaffected by any god. 5. Nobody has perceived ‘god’ within 5 physical senses. 6. Believers in different ‘gods’ can coexist, survive, compete & kill each other & their gods are powerless. 7. All Gods have been ineffective in final resolution of inter-god disputes. 8. However all ‘different’ believers & non-believers are subject to natural forces equally. 9. Natural elements truly control matter ‘like god’. 10. Mankind today controls elements, disproving god’s supremacy over matter! Amen!
  • Yea but there is no way to find out so...
  • if it is ever proven and proven with facts and not fairy stories and myths ..yeah sure, but I know it will never be proven so its a moot point
  • No, they hate the concept of there being a God.
  • Surely, more than the theists are, or ever would be! The important part is "find out" of which the theists (especially their priests*) are terrified! (They* know that the atheists know that they have always known that there is no god, there can not be a god). Atheists are the auditors of the theists' Ponzi-scam, the only Ponzi scam run under the guise of 'charitable purpose', selling believers some useless virtual product [‘eternal afterlife’, salvation, heaven, 72 virgins, etc.], which nobody can return to testify, or complain & ask for a refund!
  • Perhaps the believer is one who wastes a lifetime wondering and waiting ... when the atheist lives a lifetime of life ... At the end both will find the same answers, yet one has a wasted lifetime regardless of the end truth ... who will lose more, when the unknown end is the same for both? Peace
  • Perhaps they would ask ... How long will it take.
  • Not in the least. It would be their worst nightmare to discover that there is an intelligent creator.
  • Some are I suppose. Many Atheists like myself were once christians, muslims or some other religious affiliation and believed at that time their god did indeed exist. Anyone who believes in a god is searching for him in some way or another. So, yeah I wouldn't mind knowing for sure. Why not settle it once in for all? I have no problem knowing if I have a divine creator and even following my creator's rules all I need is undeniable evidence and proof. So far I haven't found it.
