  • Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill. Deuteronomy 5:17 Thou shalt not kill. That's about as plain as it can get!
  • Yes. Canada's pro-choice.
  • NO. I am pro-choice but I agree with the current limits on when a woman can get one. If a baby was carried to the point that it can live outside the womb than the woman should deliver it and give it up of she does not want it. I didn't no that Canada's abortion law was like that, it makes me sick to think of a full term woman walking into a clinic and getting an abortion. If the US changed their limits on abortion to follow how Canada does it I would become Pro-Life in a heartbeat.
  • No way, we need to put an end to the murder of children, not promote it. Our society is already morally bankrupt.
  • I agree. I pity the baby born whose mother didn't want him/her.
  • No. I cannot support any form of infanticide. If Obama has his way that is exactly what will happen. Even surviving babies from botched abortion attempts will be refused medical care and allowed to die.
  • I don't think so. While I am a staunch supporter of a woman's right to choose, if a fetus can survive on it's own outside of the womb, even if born prematurely, I don't think aborting it would be right. Just my opinion.
  • Simply no. Too many lives have been quashed before they could begin. How many of those that were put to death before they were born would have been doctors that could have brought benefit to our society? How many of them could have leaders that could have brought calm to our world? How many of them simply would have brought joy to their families? It is sad, and I mourn the loss of those innocent souls.
  • Certainly. Post birth as well. Specifically people making babies when they should have been sterilized.
  • No,I don`t think so.Wouldn`t that be murder if it could survive on it`s own?I believe in choice but could never choose abortion myself.I really don`t think it is a government issue. It is a private issue!!Unless it could survive outside, then there is no choice...Are you sure they allow that in Canada?
  • May as well. Many pro-choicers say that even full term fetuses are not human beings and don't have the right to live until after birth.
  • What the hell are you talking about? That is the most ridicules thing I have heard. We are civilized up here. (Canada). That would be a death sentence to the woman. Where the hell are you getting your facts from? Post a link.
  • THAT is the most STUPID thing I have EVER read on A/B .. We have enough SLAUGHTER and MURDER of these innocent babies without doing it up until the day theya re born .. for God's sake ... We need to crack down on our own abortion laws ; not make it Easier ... I'm in favor of having a law that says ANYONE who gets an abortion has to be sterlized .... PERIOD. YOU only get ONE FREE MURDER !!
  • I was raped when I was 15 and got pregnant and I had an abortion as soon as I found out I was pregnant. Im 20 years old now and I regret my decision everyday. I now have a little girl who I had with my husband and when I look at her I cant help but wonder what my other babies eyes would look like looking up at me. Yes I do believe women should have the choice when raped or when having a child could take there life. But if you have sex on free will why would you make a baby suffer because of your selfish actions? Abortion is used like birth control and I know people who have had 2-3 abortions just becaues they didnt feel like having a baby. As for aborting up to birth.. why would you do that? Why wouldnt you just get a c-section and give the baby to a family who couldnt have children.
  • Hell no! I believe in Emergency contraception so that abortion wouldn't even be necessary. If a woman is raped or feels she could be pregnant after sex, I think a hospital should help her out with Plan B. A baby can live if they are a few months premature, so if the baby is aborted at 7 months for a 9 month pregnancy it's like murdering a premature infant. But apparently the difference between "just" abortion and murder is whether or not you are outside the womb. I fail to see the logic in this.
  • Yes. America is the home of the FREE Why not freedom of choice?
  • At some point, abortion is murder. How different is the baby three days before birth from three days after? Same child, still growing.
  • No, Murder is murder, 2 wrongs don't make a right!
  • It is a very iffy statement. I myself do NOT support abortion; however, I do agree that the choice is not mine to make, it is the expecting woman's. I would not like it very much if they did, but at the same time I do not feel right saying that someone shouldn't be allowed to make that choice. I would prefer adoption over abortion, but I must leave that choice to the mother, so I regretfully say..."why not?"
  • I don't see this (Canada's law) as a reason to change our laws.
  • Canada is the only country in the western world to offer abortion on demand with no gestational age limit which I find very disturbing and I cannot see why any civilised country would want to follow this shameful law. I'm all for people having choice, however, this is just ridiculous that a woman can say to a doctor at any point in her pregnancy that she no longer wants to continue with it.
  • Canada does not allow on-demand after 3 months.
  • Absolutely yes. We guys can't criticize woman for going through with an abortion, it's their choice and in the end we're not the ones who would be giving birth.
  • No. Completely disagree with it. I even think they should lower the limit as well from 24 weeks to 12 weeks.
  • Is that really true? So a baby whose life is sustainable with normal care outside the womb would be killed because labor didn't start 'naturally' first? That is just the saddest thing I have ever heard.
  • I know I will get downrated for this but here it goes. I believe it is my uterus and I as a woman have the right to do what I want with it. I believe banning abortion is just another way for men (our government) to control women. We should have the ability to control our fertility. Without that, we are trapped by the realities of pregnancy, childbirth and child-rearing; rather than a privelege and a gift. Attempts to limit women's reproductive freedom are no more than a gambit to keep women "in their place." Making abortion illegal won't stop abortions from happening, it will only stop them from being safe. I think I read somewhere that 43% of abortions worldwide are illegal. Changing laws doesn't solve the problem. I believe strongly in taking responsibilities for one's actions. I believe people should practice safe sex. However, in some cases, I believe that abortion IS taking responsibility. Bringing an unwanted child into the world is irresponsible. Keep in mind, I am not pro-abortion. I am pro-choice. I think religious freedom and education are also a constitutional right of every citizen, but they do not belong in the hospital room. Reproductive freedom is just as sacred and constitutional as religious freedom. And for the record, I don't necessarily disagree with anyone who is pro-life. I understand and respect your reasonings. And to answer the question, US law should remain the same.
  • HELL NO!!! The waiting list for adoption is years! Not 100% on it but last I heard it's something like 5 yrs.If you're gonna carry that baby to full term and don't want it why would you want to KILL it when there are so many people that want it and would take care of it. That far along you go through labor either way if you're gonna go through all of that anyways make some family that despertly wants a child but can't happy. Give the baby up
  • THe question should be the opposite, should abortion have 100% limits meaning none at all! There are adoption choices!! It is not just the woman being effected, the man and remember the living child inside the womb?!!
  • Trudeau was one of Canada's biggest mistakes. How can anyone justify killing the helpless. I'm pro choice; you chose to have sex, you chose to accept the posibility of conception. Where do you draw the line? A small child's brain is not fully developed and they can not survive on their own so should we sanction killing small children? What about the mentally disabled who can not take care of themselves? Where exactly are our values when we don't allow someone to make a conscientious to end their life by criminalizing assisted suicide but we allow people to randomly terminate the life of those who can not decide for themselves through abortion. Do people hate children that much that they would so readily kill them? Where does their thirst for blood end?
  • Yes. It's a pity that the U.S. is so far behind Canada in supporting women's rights. Until very recently, Mexico didn't allow any abortions and the result is that Americans want to abort them as grown adults as they cross the border.
  • Nope, nor should we have a health care plan that provides for abortion that is paid for by the taxpayers. Be pro choice if you wish, but be willing to pay for your own killing, do not force all people to get their hands bloody.
  • i think that the united states ought to immediately call for a constitutional convention so that that silly clause about separation of church and state can be abolished for good so that the catholic bishops can petition congress. oh, they already are? ummmm, well ... . i believe in women's rights but, when i saw my darling daughter on ultrasound at 3 months, i had to sit down when i saw how advanced (and beautiful) she was at that early date. i always stood for women's rights to abort in all cases before. now, i'm, frankly, very confused.
  • Have you seen the PAIN those saline solutions and scissors to the back of the skull do to these babies? Your suggestion would mean that pain is available to even more babies. I am so sorry, but nothing in me says that this is okay, not on ANY level. +5
  • The child has developed no feeling or care on the matter one way or the other at that stage - Ask an unwanted child how worthwhile the journey of his / her life was when they reach maturity and then judge the rights and wrongs of this. For every kid who made it unscathed through the system there are thousands who didn't. At maturity we can maybe count our blessings but a new being cannot miss a life it never has. Think about the pain and misery of sentient beings first before you consider the welfare of those who have no self-awareness. If we humanely terminate embryos and babies that are not wanted they are much better off, or, had their lives maybe turned out the fairy tale way, their never having led that life is no loss as you cannot miss a life you never had. . Even if we disregard the female vessels involved, we must think about the lives we are so keen to protect and how our skewed morality is eclipsing our responsibility to act in their best interests. In a misplaced drive to protect the right to life for the sake of it, the goal of childrens' welfare is getting lost.
  • No way. 'Pro choice' cannot be taken to mean that a country would support a persons decision to kill some guy for getting in his way. Once a child has all the necessary parts to survive in the world as an aware human being (and with medical advances survival is now possible with temporary assistance, from 20 weeks gestation) then anything else is murder, in my opinion.
  • Yes. It's none of government's business what a woman does with her body and the fetus is a part of her body until the instant of birth. Won't happen here because the religious right has too much political power. +4
  • I will go ahead and state I am pro choice. I am fine with a fetus being aborted up to 20 weeks. But a partial birth abortion, no way. I have seen to many graphic picture of it, that I don't know how a doctor could do that. To me that would be cruel and unusual punishment to the child. So...my opinion.
  • Yes. A woman should have the right to end her pregnancy at any point. The state should not have to do anything with this type of decision.
  • What about after birth? After that what...the firing squad? I can't get my mind around this kind of murderous thinking against a child. Nobody..the mother/ father..nobody has the right to do this.
  • NO. One of my biggest problems with certain pro-lifers in my area (and im talking about a small group here, and do not assume all pro-lifers to be like this at all) is that they march around with pictures of 'partial birth' abortions. In the U.S. you can have a legal abortion up to 16 weeks. This is when the baby is still considered to be an 'embryo' and not a 'fetus' and by some peoples standards not a 'baby'. While I am PRO CHOICE I still think this is actually way too long of a time period and personally believe abortions should only be allowed up to 8-12 weeks. There are babies born two months early. The breathe, they hear, they feel. This to me, is the difference between an 'embryo' (ok to terminate) and a 'baby' (not ok to terminate).
  • Now that is interesting. Well, if it is aborted after 6 months or even before it will survive and presumably it will be put into an incubator and when it is able to take the bottle, it will be put up for adoption I imagine.
