Probably for several good reasons: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - (1) Because we all seem to die eventually. (2) Because God's Son was supposedly immortal. (3) Because it was preached that suffering not death was the price of sin (supposedly past and future). (4) Because in any case whatever was traded for sin was supposedly mercilessly measured for transaction in some heavenly commodities market presided over by the person(s) doing the trading - a rather dubious set up!

1.) It's a christian notion and a lot of us aren't christian. 2.) If god doesn't exist, Jesus was just a guy. 3.) "Fringe" is on, so I gotta go.

First you have to believe that god actually exists. Then you have to believe jesus was the son of god. Then you have to believe that he died for your sins. Not everyone does. And I don't think anyone should.

Oh, I appreciate it. What I don't appreciate is: ---Proselytizers telling me that I have to 'appreciate it' in a particular way. ---Proselytizers telling me that I'll burn on an Eternal Lake of Fire if I don't obey their dictums ---Proselytizers trying to use what a bunch of guys wrote about this blessed event 300 years later to tell me (or anyone else) how to run my life. ---Etc., etc., etc.

Because they have scales on their eyes and have no clue of GOD and HIS love for them. They will never reach out to HIM till all hell breaks loose in their life and even then some people won't break. GOD is good and that is hard for some people to swallow that this GOD will love them so much even though they may be the worst person ever.

Because "facts" are dependent on hard evidence, and you have none - not for your god's existence, for the existence of Jesus, or for any connection between the two.

Just because some people are quiet about their beliefs doesn't mean that they don't have beliefs. Those who keep shouting about how religious they are aren't more or less religious than those who quietly worship in their own way. Maybe we don't believe that Jesus died for our sins. If that's the only reason you're Christian, you have a serious problem. Well, that's what I think anyway.

Because in modern society we require proof of things, or at least need the weight of evidence to back something up, before we believe it. You have to appreciate that the Catholic religion is in decline, & there are now many more Atheists than Catholics. Therefore, by simple numbers, more people wont appreciate what you believe is a fact than will.

Why do we need to appreciate it? Not everyone believes in the same god and some don't even believe in god so who are you aiming the question at, the believers? Because those who don't believe have the right to not believe so don't need to even think of this question.

The Ancient Egyptian god Osiris died to save the souls of many who would then have the opportunity to follow him and inherit eternal life. Why do you not appreciate this?

It's easy for anyone sane to see that the Jesus myth was copied from older pagan "crucified savior born of a virgin" tales. All the tales relate to an event in earth's history that brought "eternal" life to earth which have nothing to do with an actual human. Think about it and see if you can figure out what it is.

You can appreciate your Gods' work all you like, you can throw yourself to your knees and pray as often as you want, you can worship at the same time every week and listen in dumb reverence to your sermons, you can thank your God for everything....just don't expect me to share your beliefs! This is why I dont ask religious questions on here. Once you do you have the athiest coming out of the woodwork attacking you. An athiest and some christians for that matter just dont appreciate what Jesus did for mankind. Athiest dont believe in anything and some christians are just you usual ungrateful human beings who take things for granted. Athiest on AB are just as fundamental as a christian fundamentalist. They just cant stop asking questions that are basically just more or less poking fun at christians or christianity. There were 2 athiest I knew from high school or thought they were so superior and more intelligent then their christian classmates yet they couldnt even muster up enough credits to graduate high school. They didnt do their work and they would skip to go smoke cigarettes all day. Not very smart for people who claim to be so smart if you ask me.

So a god decided to make a couple of people who couldn't tell right from wrong. He gave them free will. He knew what they would do. He told them not to eat the fruit. They didn't know if it was wrong to disobey him, so they ate the fruit, and then found out that it was wrong to disobey him, but he punished them anyway. He gave them a hereditary sin. Sometime later he incarnated a bit of himself to try to clear up the mess he had made, knowing that he would make it, but made it anyway. He incarnated by sending another bit of himself that looked like a pigeon to make a virgin pregnant by whispering in her ear. Since he is a god, the bit of himself that was incarnated didn't die because it couldn't, being a bit of himself. It just looked as though somebody had died, but hadn't really because three days later he was back, right as rain, and this was supposed to cure us of our hereditary sin that was imposed as a punishment on the people who had done nothing wrong themselves except for being the offspring of the first two who didn't obey god because they had free will and couldn't tell right from wrong. Yes, it all makes perfect sense. Hallelujah!

Even if I did believe that, I would probably openly rebel against God, simply because I am much more comfortable in a state of rebellion than passive obedience.

I am sure those people who believe that god sent jesus to die for their sins do appreciate it.

Mostly and sadly to say people do not and will not believe there is a God or Jesus and to think that a man died for them, what sense does that make in this world today with all the crazy stuff going on around us. This is why I stay out of the christian section because it is truly brings sadness to me to see the way people perceive believers and the way they talk about God/Jesus. I have seen everything from saying that God is a killer to Jesus was a zombie so that is the way most people feel. Sorry you did not get any better response but that is the way it is and again it is with deep sadness to be here giving you these facts. Just keep your faith in order and try your best to not let it get to you
