  • Keep him on a tight leash- literally. Our dog was on a leash until he was old enough to stop running off. I'm sure that when he starts to eat those weird things you can spank him and say no. sometimes our dog will eat grass- its very annoying- we just bring him in when he does.
  • You can spray bitter apple on the plants as well
  • Spray the plants with a non toxic chemical that causes a terrible odour, like fartspray, it really makes everyone mad, and will affect your dog because dogs have way better scent receptors than us humans. :)
  • get a rubber-band gun. shoot it in the butt.
  • We sprayed our plants with chilli spray. My pups hate it.
  • Puppies, like all babies, are excessively prone to putting "things" in their mouths. If you have toxic plants in your yard or house, where the puppy can get to them, it is imperative that YOU DO NOT allow him to do so. The puppy is NOT going to make intelligent or healthy choices. He's not trying to be naughty, he's simply unequipped mentally to understand that this is a huge mistake! Your best bet is to insure there are NO toxic plants in the yard that could harm him or that he does not have access to any plants that are toxic. Provide an assortment of ACCEPTABLE, SAFE toys for him to chew...NOT rawhide...which can become impacted in the intestines resulting in a potentially life threatening situation requiring expensive surgery to remove...but SAFE TOYS...Nyla bones, Kongs, even a big hock bone (debate on bones...some dogs CAN chew so hard that they might cause their teeth to crack or chip..it can happen, and you just have to decide if your pup is an over zealous chewer!) If you can find safe toys and activities that are MORE interesting than the plants that will work. But the bottom line is safety for your dog, and I would #1 remove or not plant a toxic plant where the dog would have access and/or #2 not allow the dog UNSUPERVISED time in the yard. Most of the time successful training has more to do with actually TRAINING the dog to do an ACCEPTABLE behavior, when the dog might start to do an UNACCEPTABLE behavior, you REPLACE one with another.
