I see everyone saying rolling is more compact. Actually, I believe folding is, as rolled items are round and do not perfectly close-order stack. There's always air spaces between cylinders. But rolling leaves less creases, so I use that it things will fit that way.

Fold on the way out, roll when returning home. This makes room for the crap my wife buys.
-
Usually fold but now I'm gonna test the roll theory. I think Nautilus COAT is probably right.
-
I roll my socks, underwear, T-shirts, sweat suits,..and neckties. Oh,..pajamas as well. Dress shirts and pants go on hangers..in a suit bag.
-
Depends on the clothing. I've my own way of folding certain items. . Usually pants and shirts get folded, unless they are part of a suit or special dress clothing. Those hang in a garment bag.
-
I fold them so they fit better.

I lay them flat and fold things as little as possible. They say if you put tissue paper between the "folds", things don't get as wrinkled. Not sure if that works though. I always end up ironing things when we get to our destination anyway.
-
I'm definitely a folder, not a roller. :)
-
Funny you ask as I'm packing a suitcase today for a trip this weekend for our anniversary, I fold most things, but roll a few like socks, undies, bras etc
-
If I can't talk my girlfriend into packing it for me, I roll my clothes, LOL. They don't get so wrinkled that way.
-
I fold between sheets of plastic when going and roll when returning (to make space)
