  • it is, i mean the 2 gig nano costs 169.99 (in canada) and i've seen a 4 gig mp3 player, that costs 129.99, and plays videos! you're just buying the apple
  • I think the Nano iPod looks very cheap!
  • Oh, I forgot to mention, I don't personally think it's overrated, (I own a Video iPod) I'm just wondering people's opinions.
  • I don't know about overrated but they are certainly overpriced.
  • Yeah, a little bit. My friend has one, and it seems to just keep breaking all the time. Not worth the effort. Give me vinyl any day
  • I agree with Fyrefish. I think you pay alot for the name, just like SONY!
  • The question asks how many. Hmnn. I would estimate it to be everyone who hates being mainstream. Personally, I enjoy creative's, with respect to look, feel, usability, features, and sound quality. What I do like about iPods: The touch-wheel. Overrated? A tad bit. They don't even come with FM! Overpriced? Oh yeah.
  • have an 80G video Ipod and I couldnt live without it! It's quite an amazing little thing: stores 20 000 songs, 25 00 photos and 100 minutes of video (all at once). It also has some games on it which can be entertaining if you're travelling. The sound quality is great, picture is also great. So, no, I dont think they're over rated.
  • I do. i have bought a 6gig Philips mp3 player for only 85euro. if i would buy an ipod mp3 player with 6gig in it, it would cost me probably tenfold. and i find that Philips is also stronger. ( i am a bit on the clumsy side sometimes)
  • I used to preach the awesomeness of my usb jump-drive mp3 deal until someone gave me a free nano 4g
  • Not me. Not at all. I think it's amazing. In fact, I often find myself wondering how it works. It can store thousands of songs, movies, pictures, anything you can think of, and the battery lasts fairly long. iPods have made my life so much more convenient, and I love them for that.
  • Nothing has really come close to the high capacity iPod's yet (30/60/80 gig Video models) The quick wheel is a great innovation, the have good battery life, and are a good size. The nano's can go either way for overrated-ness. They are small, and have the click wheel, but it has some pretty good competition at a cheaper price. The shuffle your really only paying for the name I think. It may be small, but thats all it really has.
  • i do, but they undeniably work well and are pretty cool looking.
  • I DO! Although it can hold alot of songs and stuff... do they really need that many accessories? I mean seriously ijoy? ipillow? Some people at my school are saying the ipod isn't even an mp3 it's its own type of gadget. That's sad lol.
  • I bought a coby mp3 and it was only 25$ and it works very well. I don't think a person needs to have that much space. Chances that they won't even fill that ipod up. So yes I do think it is over rated.
  • i have a samsung sync its just as good
  • NOT ME i love my ipod
  • hell yes. way to overpriced for something that does the same job as a cheap samsung mp3 player. Only reason people have them is because they want the "cool" product. same thing with phones like the sidekick and the blackjack.
  • If you want anything on it, you need to buy another accessory. Highly compatible with *everything*? Yeah... But is that worth restricting *everything* you do with it? Can't have 2 Ipods off of the same library in Itunes unless you make another account on the computer, etc. I dunno, it sucks if you ask me. I'll stay with my good ol' 4gig RCA mp3 player. And people don't believe me when I tell them Ipods suck, they try and just blow it off until I rant about all the reasons. Then they realize I know what I'm talking about more than they thought.
  • i do where is the joy of cranking up the volume so you can feel the bass shake your body and make the windows rattle an ipod uses a synthetic digital file that pretends to be natural sound just ends up sounding soulless.
  • yup zunes kick way more ass for less money, and if you hapen to buy music legally, theres no drm protection with a zune. however, if u buy from itunes, the media belongs to them still, not you.
  • I was thinking the exact same thing the other day. I agree it's overrated. I prefer to listen to music on my mobile. I have an iPod but I hardly ever use it.
  • I think all of the apple stuff is overrated.
  • Absolutely, over priced and over hyped.
  • i think zunes are better because you van buy songs off the radio and the picture quality is better.
  • At this current time I do think so a bit. If apple would stop being so anal about security over their products and open up to other audio formats then I wouldn't think so.
  • Yes it is way over priced and Creative is better
  • Its a really really bad value product, considering what it costs and what you get.
  • I don`t think so.
  • Here Here! Grossly overrated.
  • YES! I love my Sansa e280. It does everything the Nano does, a few things the Nano can't (FM tuner!), and cost me FAR less. Oh, and I can replace my own battery instead of having to send it back to the manufacturer and pay twice as much for that too.
  • I don't. And for the 85 euro person, what? 85 euro is 107 dollars US. You could buy a pretty good nano with that. Plus, as the others have mentioned, FM tuner is in there. You just have to do some tricks for it. Ultimately, the ipods are actually relatively cheap and (*gasp*) durable. Plus they're cool, which explains the overrated label :P
  • No its not overrated. What makes it better is itunes, the apple store and all the extras you get because of them, not necessarily the hardware. In the same way that all the applications and things you get with the Iphone.
  • Yes I do find that the iPod is very overrated, I much prefer the Zune because I don't like apple. (But I don't know why) and besides, the Zune can play pretty much any audio type.
  • i think apple the brand it self is good just the program itunes they force on you is trash. although i think brands like "creative" are great
  • i Do think the brand is a bit overrated because there a many better mp4/mp3 player's on the market which are much better for the same price. the only thing i like about iPod is the uniqueness but even that thought is vanishing away when everyone owns a iPod.
  • Yep, it's overrated, very much so.
  • I pods are alright, Itune software sucks beyond belief. Every upgrade is worse than the previous one.
  • yes they are not as good as they seem after about a few years you will start having problems and they cost way too much to repair
