  • I think it's stupid and condescending to other peoples faiths actually.
  • it means that you have no alternative than believing in jesus (seems like they are forcing you to believe in him)........that is believe him or perish (i.e. devil will take you back and dip you in boiling oil,cut you into pieces bla bla bla )
  • Its another sick means of trying to guilt trip/scare people into joining there religion. Which, in my opinion, is an absoultely terrible way to get people to join. It might get more people then others but its down right sinister. Exspecially when the concepts of religon/churches is to save people and help them feel better as well to do good. To me its a contradictory sign to what churches should be about. God isnt about making people feel bad/guilty, god is about love and forgivness, which this sign clearly does not show. I would never go into a church with such sign, they are the types of churches the judge the crap out of people. They throw the first stones without hesitation. They dont practice what they preach. Of course not all churches are like this, but this sign makes me sick.
  • I think it is true.
  • Sad, very sad and so out of touch... and definitely a snapshot of that oh so common self-rightousness that embarrasses and upsets many true, intelligent Christians.
  • I seen one that said," the most powerful possition is on your knees" someone didnt think that through...
  • moronic and insulting
  • I think it presumes that either matters.
  • What do I think? I think... There's no thermostat in hell. God answers knee mail Sign broken, message inside Parking for members only, trespassers will be baptised What's missing from CH CH? U R The best vitamin for a Christian is B1 I live in a town of 80,000 with nearly 200 churches within a 10 mile radius. I've seen tons of these. I'd be willing to be that very few of them have seen anyone walk through the doors (much less convert to Christianity) because of what their marquee said. Most are laughable. • Even after reading people getting rated down for their opinion which I share.. I am still going to post it.. I think it is a good sign. One of the best ones I saw was "Worry is a dark room where only negatives develope".
  • I saw a sign that said "Got jesus if not free samples inside." I thought it was great.
  • OUCH :-) That's right up there with... "What would Jesus do for a Klondike bar"....
  • I think its funny if somewhat irreverent. lol
  • While it sounds vaguely like a veiled threat of sorts, I actually enjoy the humorous postings outside churches. I'm comfortable enough in my faith not to be offended and I think it's great when people so serious baout their religion can lighten up a bit. Somebody should make a little coffee table book out of 'em.
  • Can we all just lay off this Jesus sh*t already.
  • OUCH... :-) Actually I doubt the devil would take me back... Im too much of a pain in his ass... :-)
  • Pathetic.
  • ONLY JESUS IS THE ANSWERE
  • It's funny and true. I like the one that says, "Don't make Me come down there!"
  • I think it's a little too...out there...
  • Cool sign....and its rather big of the devil to take us back as well. I think there should be more of these, then we can all laugh at the church.
  • Very amusing and caught my attention too. It's nice to see Christians with a sense of humor. (I'm reading some of the answers and it's apparent that some non-christians are lacking in that department. Lighten up! Nobody's holding a gun to your head to make you love Jesus...they are just trying to seduce you with good natured humor. Sheeez)
  • I think that is the truth although if you believe in God and go to church and try to live your life the right way the devil is always there.
  • ahahahaha It's funny (and true :), even if so many people seem to find it insulting.
  • semihumorous... but if it is meant as more than humor shows the typical lack of understanding much of christianity has of influencing peoples behavior.
  • That seems like a rather nasty way to proselytize. It's simply a scare tactic to coerce people to accept fundamentalist Christianity and not go back. The sign doesn't give any positive reasons to like Jesus, only negative, fear-inducing ones. If I was an alien visitor who never heard of Jesus, I'd say, "Jesus must not be that great if they can't think of any positive things to say about him. Perhaps he's merely the lesser of two evils." You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. Unfortunately, some Christians don't seem to understand this basic truth of human nature.
  • Sounds cute. But it's intimidation and yet another proof that church leaders are insecure - deep down. Why? Because they know it just isn't true.
  • Good one!!! I get the humor
  • That's almost as good as the one I saw on my way to the store yesterday, "God, the only thing you can believe in" - ROFL! That is sad and so very ironic but I doubt they'll ever get that!
  • 1) "-----5 words that make my blood boil: IF YOU DON'T LIKE HIM. WHAT????????? What kind of message is this sending the hurting people of this world? This bumper sticker treats Jesus like a late-night infomercial product: "For a limited time only, you, yes you can own the savior of the world. He slices, He dices, and He only costs $19.95. And the best part is, IF YOU DON'T LIKE HIM, the Devil will take you back!" This public display of hilljack Christian slogans are a vaccine to this world. The hurting people of earth are getting just enough watered-down, cheesy Christianity to build up an immunity to it." Source and further information: http://austinmalone.blogspot.com/2005/10/vaccine.html 2) "There was an add in the local paper from Trinity Episcopal Church which said "Try Jesus. If you don't like him the devil will take you back." Of course, I couldn't let that one go. I emailed the pastor, accusing him of preaching poppycock unworthy of the Episcopal message - telling folks that people who are Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu etc are in the hands of the devil. Now he wants to meet with me. I would love to be present when that discussion takes place.. Me, too! Sounds like you are making some excitement on your own, if you can't find any elsewhere, Auntie. That's livin'! " Source and further information: http://www.aruba-travelguide.com/bulletinboard/viewtopic.php?t=8642
  • The sign is one that is being truthful. GOD would love for all of us to come to HIM. All that the sign is saying is that the devil will be waiting and praying for us to mess-up and think that GOD is expecting us to be perfect. The devil doesn't mind if we do the JESUS thing and fail. He is always happy when we are hard on ourselves and don't know GOD'S WORD and just give up and say, " AW....what is the use...I will always mess up and I think GOD doesn't want me anyway." The devil is always there to welcome us back to serving him. It is in the scriptures that the enemy won't turn us away when we give up on GOD.
  • It is a false dichotomy. "Its Christianity or the devil (no doubt the Christian devil)." They assume there is no other option. I don't beleive either of those options is truly an option.
  • They could have used better marketing tactics than that :)
  • just goes to show how much fear and coercion are part of the religious mindset..I wonder how many christians are christians only because they think it is better to be safe than sorry? I think I'll have my own billboard that is gonna say: Try Atheism..live without fear, guilt or oppression and also save 10% of your income! If you can't handle reality, jesus will always take you back.
  • What if the Devil gets really pissed off and he won't take you back. Then what??!! You'd be screwed!!
  • It's catchy, though a little damning.
  • i think it is a very deep ,true statement...causes lots of defensive rebel, opposers, to Lash out though... i understand the statement...:)
  • Glad to see that some religious people (even pastors) have a sense of humour!
  • If the church needs to resort to fear and blackmail - I would consider it nothing more than a protection racket. "Join me or I'll break your legs" +5
  • I dont like those church signs. They are judgmental and they use fear tactics. I believe in God and I dont like those signs. what does that tell you about the signs lol
  • I think, they think they are clever in their subdued little christian ways... But secretly, down deep inside, they probably want to put a dirty joke up on those things.
  • It's nonsense really.
  • i think therefore i am.
  • Pompous. (Typical) My favorite stupid church sign states "Reason is the biggest enemy of the Church" Second Place: "Swallow when you want to spit" These are real... You can't make this shit up.
