  • Well, the law in its full context states "Any signal of intention to turn right or left shall be given continuously during the last 100 feet traveled by the vehicle before turning." I'd assume that's actually turning, and doesn't apply to lane changes, but you may want to check your local ordinances if this is for practical purposes..
  • I believe this law is dominate in all states. each state has traffic statutes that cover lane changes on the highway. further, i believe that it may just be a federal mandated traffic law. this is why all new vehicles are required to have certain safety equipment, when manufactured. Turn signals are there for more than just a left or right turn. if you will check your states drivers license manual, you will find your answer.
