I think many people could benefit from mastering various intellectual fields of knowledge, i.e. psychology, sociology, political science, statistics, biology, etc. I imagine there's a number of life situations where any one of these would come in handy. Manual skills might apply as well, carpentry, auto repair, plumbing, etc. Money savers if nothing else.
