  • It was wise that he said that. And true.
  • I applaud and support
  • I applaud his extending his hand to the Islamic Nations. We mostly see the violent extremists on the news these days. But they are not the majority. They ARE the bad apples that seem to be spoiling the bunch. After 9/11, so many people think ALL Muslims are terrorist. Obama knows this is not true. Whether or not the Islamic extremists will listen is another story. I would hope that the majority of Muslims would extend their hands in friendship as well.
  • I didn't see it..I was in school all day:) But I will youtube it or google it:) I think that is what one of the world's most powerful countries should do..Obama is a represenantive of me and I voted for him:):) We all have the same God..so why are we fighting:):)??
  • It's a great symbolic gesture to show he's sincere about repairing relations. I'm all for it. While a part of me ALMOST wishes that the FIRST one, since it's the FIRST, was for us, but we've heard him a lot during his campaign, will continue hearing him for years to come, and this is a good way for him to show sincerity. To show the world that we want to behave honorably, what's the harm in "giving up" the first press conference? That would be the only problem I could see people having with it, but what's one small sacrifice to show that we want a better world image?
  • I'm ashamed that my President finds it necessary time after time to blame his own country for everything. "we are too quick to talk", give me a break. Maybe we are too quick to help, Mr. President. The dude just doesn't get it.
  • Great gesture. I hope the Taliban don't cut off the hand. The others are fine. They don't really like the Taliban either.
  • starting out on the right foot
  • Many times an extended, open hand is much better than a closed, "loaded" fist. He's making the right moves at the right time. If the conservatives would simply give the man a chance to breathe a little bit, he might be making new paths to peace! AND that is somethi8ng the whole world needs more of! Thanks for asking your Q! I did my best to answer it. I hope the information helps. VTY, Ron Berue Yes, that is my real last name! Sources: Some personal observations and opinions.
  • A brilliant piece of statecraft.
  • I think selecting Al Aribia to be the first interview sent a powerful, positive message to the Muslim world. Will it touch the hearts of the Taliban leadership and Al Qaeda? Almost certainly not. But I doubt President Obama had any illusions of doing that. Instead, he is trying to marginalize them and it may well work. It's certainly worth a try. More likely to yield positive results than saying, "Bring it on."
  • I think it's long overdue.
  • finally, america is getting it!
  • Lol I didn't see it but I think it's funny that you would question why he would hold out his hand offering friendship to the Islamic nation.
