Safe for kids to play out in the street and on the little grass patch you normally get in the middle of such roads. Makes it leafy and quiet relative to neighbouring roads, but no further from facilities.

You do not have a load of through traffic making a noise all the time.

Safety for kids to play is a big dividend and stranger vehicles stick out like a sore thumb plus you get pretty good sized back yards out of the deal too.

I would think because there is not a ton of through traffic. So it's safer for children and over all more private. And cul-de-sac is much more fun to say than "dead end".

People say no through traffic, but thats crap, i live on one and people ALWAYS are like 'hey lets not back out of our drive way, lets turn around in the cul-de-sac!' HATE IT.

Catching a ride is easier since they don't have to park. For example, if you pull a prank or tick off the parents, you have that get away ride set up.

Like everyone said it does lessen traffic, but also if guests (or when everyones' home for the holidays) park on the opposite side of the house, it doesn't make the main road too congested. Also, it usually allows for an extra amount of green space to be in the area.
