In the first Star Wars movie, Han, Leia, Luke and Chewwie get stuck in a trash compactor room with the walls closing in. A marching bad might sound best in that room... with the walls closing in....

Prety kewl when you can hear the drums in the distance and you know the parade is on the way.

Marching bands are getting corny. Then when they try to liven their performance by throwing in some gymnastics as well, it only makes them look ridiculous. Just watch the next Thanksgiving parades to see what I mean.

In the early 1960s, i attended a high school that had 100 plus members. that was a huge marching band for that era. We were the biggest in the country. They would practice on Wednesday afternoon, before school dismissed. We could not keep our feet from marching to the music. Yes, a big marching band gets an A+++.

Yes, indeed I do. I've been a big fan of John Philip Sousa's music for a very long time. I have about twenty-five of his marches on my computer. John Philip Sousa - "The Washington Post March" John Philip Sousa - "Daughters of Texas"

I was a drummer in the marching band in school. When ever my parents were out of the house, I would put a John Phillips Sousa LP on the stereo and crank up the volume to rattle the windows. I still to this day adore his music.

I don't like the sound of a big marching band; I mortally love it. Martial music, if done right, is a stirring experience that lifts the heart and mind. I was in marching bands in junior high, high school, and two colleges, as well as the All City Band of Houston. John Philip Sousa is one of the minor deities in my Pantheon.
