  • you can update your BIOS by checking the manufacturer and model nb of your MB. Updating the BIOS may or may not improve performance. You can also ruin it if you do it wrong. The motherboard itself is hardware and cannot be upgraded easily except for the components that plug in - CPU, memory sticks, video card. The MB's model determines the limit of the CPU that can be plugged into, and how many slots for memory are soldered in place. Motherboard and CPU can be bought as a package for 100-150 $ online.
