  • As a somber place where you fear for your life if you are not in lock step with the leaders of the government. A place where free speach, freedom of religion, freedom in general is stifled. It is a place full of history, but it is too dangerous for a non-Muslim to go to. That's how I see the place.
  • as a desert... sadly
  • Without me there.
  • scary, dry, desolate, and someplace i would never EVER want to go.
  • A place ran by dangerous Zealots with no freedom of speech. I am sure the population would be elated if the rulers were removed and they were free again. They of course would have to say that this is not so because of fear of what would happen to them.
  • As a country that minds its own business but is ready to defend itself if it's invaded
  • Time and time again Iran has thrown off the chains of tyranny. And every time they do that, one of the superpowers, America included, has come in an installed a dictator. This has been going on for at least a hundred years. Wouldn't you be a little xenophobic under those circumstances? We say we want to export democracy, but Iran has heard that over and over again from superpowers that turn around and fuck them over. Like most "terrorist" countries, if we just leave them alone then the people's desire for freedom will eventually lead to reformation. When we attack them, we just reinforce their radical fundamentalist tendencies.
  • Whose country? Surely you realise there are people using this site who live in countries all around the world - some of them nominally Christian countries, but some of them Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Buddhist and, for all I know, Shinto. EDIT Either I answered the wrong question or the questioner changed the wording.
  • One leg in front of the other moving in rapid succession.
  • In my mind's eye.
  • A beautiful land with rich history and civilization that has seen many dark times and survived. The cute persian cat of the world map that has been held in cage by some lunatic people.... :(
  • To Hustlesn2f who said as a desert:
  • Depends on if a angry bull was chasing you, if so then very very fast with brown shoes.
  • Sandy :). I think that the main cities are quite developed/modern though.
  • On the Montain:
  • A Muslim country that has seats reserved in its parliamnent for Jews and Christians. A beautiful and hospitable country with a rich history and ancient monuments. A place with wonderful hotels that serve delicious kabobs in the evenings. All this is not just imagination -- I have been there for two wonderful vacations.
  • If Israel gets pissed and starts bombing? A big freakin parking lot.
  • I know some people from Iran. They try to talk about Iran as some other country than what it actually is like American liberals trying to distance themselves from Bush and the war in Iraq. They are not typical Iranians peasants in that they are not poor and dirty. The one girl got in trouble for getting caught kissing a man "in public" when they thought that no one was looking. It could go one of two ways. The Iranian people could get sick of their government and overthrow it or they could continue to support it until Israel fixes their malfunction for them. Worst case (unlikely but non-zero-probability they actually get to nuke someone and the world bring the wrath of God upon them.)
  • I think of Iran as 2 places: One, a beautiful, historically significant country with lots of treasures and wonderful people to share it with and two, Iran is a government-controlled country that subjugates some of its citizens (esp. women).
