  • When we used to ride in the car with my mom, we would literally gag from all the cigarette smoke. When we went to crack the window, she'd be like "Close the damn window, you want me to get sick from the draft?".
  • Humans leave by exemple, some will be more creative than others but the majority just copy what others do. My dad did smokes in front of me and He never allowed me to do so but I did anyways. I do smoke not because of him, but because back than was cool - Very stupid of me.
  • My egg-doner used to smoke in front of me and in the car. And my step mom does too, but I'm older. She doesn't smoke in front of her little one.

  • Yes, but when I was a kid the vast majority of people smoked and no one had ever heard of second-hand smoke. If parents smoked, they smoked in front of their kids. The only place anybody went outside to smoke was church and school. (And not always at school, some of us used the boys john.)

  • My dad drinks and smokes in front of me but I've gotten pretty use to it over the years. I never picked up his habits though, but I did pick up my mothers (drinking tea).

  • My mother did very little of both... two cigarettes a day and one drink on Sunday once in awhile. She quit smoking when I was around six. My dad was another story altogether, heavy smoker and weekend drinker... my health didn't suffer because of the 2nd hand smoke.
  • Yeah they did. My father drank in front of me when i was a kid and my mother smoked in front of me a lot too.

  • Yes they did. There are pictures of my mom smoking and drinking while she was prgnant with me. But, that was back in the 1960's. My dad used to smoke about three packs a day. Didn't kill him though. He died of old age.

  • yup, but it wasnt a bad thing. drinking is a huge part of Irish/European culture. they dont smoke tho. i used to like goin to the pub as a child, you got crisps and a fizzy drink it was all good!! :D
  • Yes, when they did However, I can only remember my father smoking when I was very young. They didn't go to pubs but may have had an odd drink at home. I know when my father had his heart attack he was advised to have a whisky each night which he did. When we grew up the sometimes would go to a pub for a meal and a drink.

  • Oh yeah. Both parents smoked like chimneys but my father quit when I announced I was expecting their only grandson. Mother is still at it. Both parents drank, father like a fish, mother socially. The end result? I have never had a cigarette and only use alcohol to cook!

  • My mom didn't drink or smoke. My dad smoked a pipe and cigars, though. And he had a beer once in a while, maybe 4 or 5 times a year. He'd even let me have a small sip when he did. I never remember him drinking liquors or wine.

  • Yep. That's why, when I was 8, I decided it was a good idea to smoke and drink. And now, at 14, I am a recovering alcoholic. And even after all that happened to during those times, they still smoke and drink in front of me. Just goes to show how much they really care about me.
  • Yes, from as far back as I can remember, up until the very day they passed away...both in their 80's. Married for 58 years, my loving folks were the BEST!
