  • Gee, it's been a long time but here goes. Open up the lab, stock your work space with all appropriate tools and equipment required. Welcome your first patient, prepare him/her for blood drawing then draw the blood, label all vials appropriately, give instructions if they need to give a urine or stool sample. Sometimes you need to instruct them on how to give a sperm sample, yes, you do that too. Sometimes you will have to take an ECG and label everything that goes with that procedure. Always make sure that you wash your hands after every procedure. Don't forget to clean up the station after each patient. Then you have to do the "paperwork". You will also have to prepare the blood for testing by doing the necessary prep work for the lab technician. Spinning the blood, making blood smears, etc... Take calls from outside sources with lab results. Call in these results to the doctors. Record everything for filing. Then you start all over again. Have fun. I love that job!
