  • There are shops that will charge a small fee to test your system out, and tell you what's wrong. Usually the fee is then applied to the cost of fixing it, if you choose to let them fix it. My old X-box had a bad main board and it turned out to be more to fix it, then to just get a new one. My old Xbox was doing the same thing your PS3 is doing, not recognizing discs. Your system might not have such a fatal flaw though, so have a professional check it out. Who knows, might just be a reader out of alignment.
