I receive child support on a consistent basis, but my child's father still owes 4k in back child support. is there a time limit that the arrearage needs to be paid, or can he just never pay it and never clm him on his taxes.

It is a court order so if he does not pay completely he is in violation of a court order. There is no time limit on him paying whether he claims the child or not. That is not part of the court decree. If he continues take him back to court. There are now laws in many states that will take any tax refund that he gets and also refuse him a drivers licnese and or fishing or hunting or other proffesional licensing if he needs one to work.
