yes, umm, no.... Ahh! stop confusing me!! i would call it a frosted mufin... I think...
-
I don't know the technical answer here ('cause I mean come on, cupcakes vs. muffins...very heated topic!), but I have seen things like pumpkin muffins with cream cheese frosting...I don't know if frosting makes a muffin a cupcake, but it does make one taste better! :)
-
Nah, muffins are harder and usually thicker...more starchy. A cupcake is is usually fluffier and softer than a muffin, more like a cake. So if you put frosting on top of a muffin, you'd just be cheating yourself.
-
Nope, not by my definition. A muffin is much less sweet and doesn't usually contain eggs, and the texture is very rough and large. A cupcake is made from a batter made like cake batter, and usually contains eggs and a lot more sweetener and will be much more fluffy and have a smoother texture. There's no reason not to frost your muffins though! wow, that sounded like a dirty comment....need help frosting your muffins?
-
No it doesn't. There really is a difference between them. Yes, a cupcake often has a glaze or frosting on the top, but more than that is the composition. Cupcakes are little miniature cakes. They are sweeter and lighter, like a cake, whereas muffins are made like a quick bead, heavier, denser, less sweet. They are made different as well.

Is this some kind of naughty metaphor?

If you sit on a muffin does that make it flatbread? What if you sit on a Puffin?
