  • We used to live at the foot of the Rocky Mountains and hiked at least once or twice a month. On one of those occasions we were hiking back down and encountered a large rattle snake on the path. We threw pebbles and small rocks trying to get the snake to move. It took about 20 minutes and then he finally moved - right down to the next section of the trail that we needed to cross. It took us 3 hours to hike down what would normally have taken about 1 1/2 to 2. Haven't come across any more since then - thank goodness.
  • I once picked up a hitch hiker while driving a big rig coming out or Texas, on my way to Mississippi. I was very tired and needed someone to keep me company. This young woman sang to me some songs she wrote herself almost the entire time. She had a very good voice and it kept me awake. I know that does not sound too adventurous but it is something I will never forget.
  • We picked up some guy from Ozzfest and drove him around for miles while he tried to remember where he lived. One time I also fell on my bike while crossing a highway, and a nice family picked me up and brought me to my friend's house.
  • I never had any hitch-hiking experience ..!!
