According to the Sumerian mythology/cosmology, Nibiru did not collide with Tiamat/Earth and would not do so in the future. It was said to be one of Nibiru's/Marduk's moons that collided with Earth and gave it life. The date you refer to has nothing to do with Sumerian Mythology. It does reflect the end of the Mayan calendar.

For all the naysayers out about the theory of Nibiru, im not saying i support nor disagree with the theory, but first consider these points. 1. We as a civilization no absolutely ZIP about whats outside our own solar system. Its more a likely hood nor that isnt that there is a some sort of planet beyond pluto. I mean do you really think we as a civilization know every about inner and outer planetary dynamics. Come on.....Instead look at what we do know 2. Look at earths past climate records. Especially in regards with Temperature over the last 100,000 years and you can pick up patterns. y = (a)-1/x is what seems to be the predominant theme. Where A is a the factor of magnitude the event that cools or warms the planet. and -1/x or 1/x depending on warming or a cooling event. There a clear patterns inside of patterns. Events that come around regualarly, whether be it by 100,000 yrs or 3,000. Every 3 to 4K yrs the earths temperature has varied by +/- 5 degree C in as little as 50 yrs! AKA Younger Dyras Event and in other cases over 10K yrs. 3. That same 3 - 4K yr cycle evident in our cycle is also corresponds to the many varouis civilizations whom at different times and different areas of the globe all point to the Celestial alignment being the key to when these events start.. Now have devasting are they???? The fact is we are still here, which means we survived it, and also the past civilizations seem to make it the most important part of their culture why??? no it will not happen due to the repulsive force that the sun gives off, the call nibiru "planet x" it came close to hitting earth in 1995 but the repulsive force pushed it away, but in 2012 it will come very close, messing up all radio waves and communication because of the magnitation it has in the core. i was like you worried that we will all die but we will be perfectly safe :)
