  • Of course i've heard of it...i almost went there
  • lol when and why? were r u from?
  • I do, cause I live In Ontario, Canada. Newfoundland seems like a good place to me with all its wildlife and beatiful landscapes, but I bet its snowing like mad there right now
  • i've never visited the place, but i am well aware of its existance. most noteably for its goofy 3.5 hours behind greenwich mean time. who came up with that one?!
  • nope, no snow actually , we have the weirdest weather patterns in the world i think lol, no snow on the ground at all, we had a snow storm like a week ago tho
  • Yes. I have friends who are Newfies. Not only was it the first part of North America to be discovered (by Vikings) but you guys also have a relic of the Catholic Church buried deep in a well there, don't you?
  • I have visited it and I think it is a very beautiful place, just a bit chilly in the summer, if I remember correctly.
  • Yes, we have alot of "newfies" in Alberta. I hear it is a beautiful place to live.
  • And home of the best seafood in the universe. I love the Bay of Fundy too.
  • I live all the way down in Louisiana and I know where it is.
  • I know where it is but I have never been there. My ancestors were from Nova Scotia.
  • I know where it is, I'm from upstate NY.
  • I've known where it is since I was a little girl. I loved pouring over maps and looking for interesting far off places, especially north areas. Loved looking at all the inlets up the Labrador coast. I even have a Newfoundland dog. I used to love watching Canadian TV when we had a C-band dish. There was a wonderful show on, can't remember the name, something like Newfoundland Today or something. It had great stories about Newfoundlanders and their island. Love the accent, too. We plan on going for a visit one day, soon. We want to ride our motorcycle up there from New York.
  • I've heard of it often. I knew a woman ( a "Newfie") who emigrated to New Jersey. I have read about how the dwindling cod population has hurt the local economy. Recently, I read a travel article about Saint John. It sounds wonderful.
  • Yes of course it's so beautiful there!
  • Canada...Canada...that's that place "up there" right?
  • Well, I'm English and I've known about Newfoundland (the new found land) since I was at school, and that was a long time ago.
  • I spent some time in Harbour Bretton, East Port, and Trinity Bay back in 1978-79 ... as well as some time at Goose Bay in Labrador. Although my Swedish and Norwegian ancestors (I have family geneological records) were the ones who found Baffin Island, then turned back to Iceland where they were living, it was a different group of Vikings who found "Vinland".
  • We love Newfoundland and come back almost every 2nd year. It is a unique place, people are super friendly and it is a great place to travel to. We love the western peninsula, the viking trail. I believe June is one of the best times to get there, there are icebergs, whales and absolute stunning scenery. Check out Gros Morne National Park when you there. Here are some links if you interested in Newfoundland: http://www.travel.hickerphoto.com/viking-trail-newfoundland-info.htm Pictures of Newfoundland and Labrador: http://www.hickerphoto.com/newfoundland-labrador-pictures-cat.htm and an article on the icebergs (only in German available: http://www.hicker.de/eisberg_reisebericht.jsp
  • Living in Ontario, I better know where it is! I've never been though, but would love to. Got a couch I can crash on? ; )
  • In the cold Canadian waters, north from the coast of Maine, there's an island called Newfoundland, swept by snow, wind and rain... Where the people make a living, on the land and on the sea' there are people on the island, that mean the world to me... I wish I had the power, to change the course of time, and live again in Newfoundland, my home of childhood times...
  • i've heard of it and would like to see it. but i'm stuck in north carolina forever, or so it seems.
  • Newfoundland eh? East coast Canada. How can I live with a Canadian and not know about Newfoundland.
  • I have heard of Newfoundland. I know people from there. I've studied Newfoundland in school. I know where Newfoundland is located. Yes, I do know about it.
  • I've heard of it... I believe it was Spider Robinson wrote a set of stories based there... Also, Bob and Tom heard of a town up there and called it live one day... Dildo, Newfoundland. The lady they talked to was extremely serious, and didn't get ANY of the jokes they were trying to make. From both the books and the call, it really sounds like a great place. Oh... And aren't you one of the few places in the world that's 1/2 hour off in the "normal" time zones?
  • of course i know man. im canadian too;)
  • On the far east coast of Canada, a little further east than the East Coast of the United States. Of CXourse it is north of the United States as well. My best friend's family is from there. My Grandmother is also from Canada, as well as my wife's family...I can find it on a map.
  • I've heard of it from a historical perspective, with the viking discovery, but I don't know anything about the modern province.
  • Sure, I know where it is. I lived there for a short time as a child. I live in Ontario now, and I'm pretty sure most (hopefully all) Canadians are aware of Newfoundland. LOL. There are a lot of Newfoundlanders at my workplace. It's a beautiful province and I really want to go again soon. I love the Newfie accent!
  • Give me a screech and i'll give you an answer. Lord thundering jesus boy.
  • Lord Thundering Jesus Boy. Pass me some of that there Screech.
  • i do!!!!!! =)
  • Yeah being in Alberta we here allot about it from all the newfies about how you eat every kind of seafood fresher than anyone. But whats really cool is thats were the wrestler "The Rock" got his name from. You see his grandfather was a boxer from newfie land, and so when "The Rock" was starting out his career he just adopted the name. Cool Huh
  • Hey Steve, just returned from your awesome province & wish I were still there. (!!!)   I close my eyes & I'm back in Twillingate, on the whale watching boat with the blond lady & her brother, wishing I could kick back a few beer with them & their dad, who also run a local tourist/restaurant & B&B just down the road from each other, on the quieter side of Tw'gate. Didn't even find out their names, but as if that would matter.   I close my eyes again & I'm strolling along the row houses again in St. John's --- 1st a brilliant green, next comes the pale blue one, a burnt yellow row house, then a fire-engine red to finish off that section. (Stink, I'm jealous of you!) X)
  • Sure I know where it is, and now answer my question of what the * there is to do there. It's the only province I haven't yet been to and besides the nice scenery (which I've already seen so much of), polar bears and icebergs I'm having a hard time thinking of reasons to go. What's that street with all the bars? maybe i'll go there?
