  • Federal government has WAY too big a roll...ex. No Child Left Behind. They mandate things to the state and local governement, but then don't offer funding for the mandate. State government is run by people who have not been in a classroom since they were in school. They make decisions without thinking through all the implications. ex...TAKS in Texas drives the education students get and not in a good way. Districts simply try their best to satisfy the demands of the state and federal government. They do the best they can with what they have. At least, most of the local districts do. There are always exceptions.
