I think anytime you're in fear of being seriously wounded you should defend yourself. That being said, I would say that you shouldn't hit a woman unless that's the case.

I have never been in a real fight either way, but anyone (man, woman, child, shit zu, what ever) who makes themselves a threat will be neutralised with what ever it takes. remember, far less stingrays than women under 100 lbs have killed men, and look at what happened to steve erwin. underestimate a threat (because it is a girl) and you will lose. a gentleman would never hit a lady... if she intends you harm, she is not a lady.

Me having a son and a daughter that are 2 yrs apart in age I am and have been dealing with this issue with them because my daughter is the oldest and right now she can hit just as hard as my son. I have been teaching my son that he is not to hit a girl, no matter what, however..I know alot of women that can/will/do kick their boyfriends ass so I think it all depends on the situation and the girl. I don't agree with a girl hitting a guy either though. I think if you are in real danger of getting beat up you might have to:)

I was taught never to hit girls ... It's one of the nicest things my dad could have given me ... Now I am older and since I found art ... I have discovered a huge respect for all females and the importance there being presents in our lives and existance ... They are special ... to much so to beat. Don't upset her to the point she needs to express that much sorrow by lashing out at you. Thankyou ♥ the girls it would be a sad place without them :)

If *ANYONE* attacks you (other than playfully or what have you), it's fair game in my opinion to fight back in self-defense. Other than self-defense or whatever, though, I don't think you should be hitting anyone, regardless of their gender. Just my opinion.

It depends on the circumstances. I detest violence to women or anyone else. However, there are certain exceptions to the rule. There are exceptions to the rule where the girl may indeed be stronger and certainly if she uses a weapon, you have a right to defend yourself. The question is if it is self defense or not. If for example she simply slaps you, you just walk away. If she picks up a bat or doubles her fist and continues to pound you at some point you do have a right to defend yourself. This playing the victim role stuff has got to stop and some common sense has to apply. If someone that is smaller and weaker is stupid enough to continue to attack someone bigger and stronger, then at some point self defense is acceptable.

no. if some girl is constantly hitting you or whatever then restrain her to stop her from attacking you, but only hit her if that is the absolute last resort. I am a marital artist and sometimes i have to spar women and that is something i will never get used to. its hard to hit a female, doesnt matter what age.

Where I live, we don't hit girls. We love, respect, and honor girls, but we don't hit them. Each place is different I suppose. On the other hand, here girls don't hit boys. They love, respect, and honor them. I realize that it is hopelessly old fashion and we are dinosaurs in the great scheme of things. Me, and my kind, are rapidedly dying out and a new progressive advanced and superior code of social conduct is becoming more prevalent. This new code does not hold with my view.

If it was an affectionate hit, then you can softly punch her back, I believe. If she hits you several times, restrain her. If she's trying to kill you or injure you I suppose that you can punch back.

As somewhat of a feminist, I must say other women are not doing me any favors by playing the victim role. The bottom line is violence is wrong on either side. If I hit a male, he has every right to hit me back. I work out a lot and can handle myself quite fine, so I am not fragile and weak. If I put myself in the place of a man, he has a right to defend himself. It is okay if she starts it, PERIOD.

Only in a self-defense situation. If you are in a disagreement and she hits you, no the real man would not strike back. If she is coming at you with something that can cause bodily harm, blast her with a left hook.

Umm. Most cases, no never... Like if a woman catches you cheating on her and she bitch slaps you, then nope. But, if she is throwing chairs, books, and lamps at you and cold clocks you, you may want to try to restrain her and call the cops. Women cant attack with the strength that men can (usually) and if you do hit them, then you will most likely get in trouble with the law. It may not be right, but it would probably happen. Its best never to hit a women unless you had no other possible option of defending yourself..

If she hits you, instinctly raise your fist to her chin, and caress it instead. Depends on the situation too. In selfdefense it's not okey either, there are much more effective ways of subuing an assailant.

Firstly, If someone hits you playfully then you definitely do not strike back in a serious way. But if you are being struck by a person whos intention is to injure or seriously hurt. Then you use what force that is necessary to stop your assailant and to deter them from striking again. Secondly; there are quite a few women out there who are capable of seriously hurting someone, and if they are physical equal, then it is justified. Thirdly; when I see "its not ok to hit for anyone" is just a way to evade the question of what a man should do should he is abused and if he has been struck already.

It's not okay to hit ANYONE back, unless it's in self-defense and/or you find yourself in a life and death situation. In that case, of course it is. This applies to hitting men back as well.

I didn't believe in hitting a woman until I met a certain one. She had been married 7 times. One was in jail for hitting her and another was on probation for the same. If I had to defend a man who had hit her in court I would simply lock her in the jury room with a jury. Some people need to be hit. Repeatedly.

I've read all 88 answers and I find a complete difference of opinion between the young and the older and more thoughtful. I find it sad that the young believe violence is the way to end violence. Maybe with age and maturity, the young will rethink their beliefs; think more about getting along and less about winning. If you've got a girl that is hitting you, maybe you should walk away and find another. Doesn't sound like a good match to me.

I cannot understand how some of you people can say it is never ok to hit a girl or woman back. Think about it for a minute. Im not talking about most of the time where a man is generally stronger than a woman. Or when it is in play or jest. Im talking about real self defence situations where your life is in terrible danger and you cannot get away. Like when she has you backed up with a knife. You cannot restrain her in a situation like that. You will get stabbed. Your only chance is to use your feet. If your son was in a situation like that, would you like to water his grave simply because the attacker has a vagina?

This is one of those rules I never really understood. First off, let me exclude cases of self-defence, where I think gender has no say whatsoever, I'd take down a girl holding a gun in my face if I got the chance, no different from a guy; and cases of useless violence, wrong in ANY case. When I hit a guy(for fun and NOT violence or defence) theres nothing wrong, hell punch me back prolly, which is usually part of the reason for punching him in the first place. When I hit a girl it's exactly the same, only I adapt the amount of force I use to be less painfull(because she's prolly less used to it) and more in the order of what they can replicate. with girls and guys alike whether or not it would be fun to 'fight' is dependant on the personality ofcourse. I wouldn't hit random girls, or guys, for fun, only those I know, and who will fight back :P with her hitting me on the other hand, I see no reason whatsoever not to hit her back, unless it is rather a form of communication (which a slap usually is), in which case I'll focus on the message.

If she does it to hurt you, or as in: she's trying to maul you then it would be insane NOT to fight back. However under regular conditions it's best to never put your fist perpendicular to anything. >.>
