Both. Some things need to be cooked and some things need to be baked for me to like it.
-

Cooking, it's not as precise. Although a finished baked good is very rewarding.

I am definitely more of a baker. I can cook, I make all sorts of things... but I much prefer to follow a specific recipe, causing just the right combination of ingredients to perform in an expected way while baking. I love measuring exact amounts, mixing/folding/kneading/whisking, making delicious creations that everyone loves! I love baking cakes, then filling, frosting, and decorating them. I like to make pastries, and I make some killer cream puffs, eclairs and danishes. I actually went to school to learn to be a professional pastry chef. I almost finished my coursework, but then decided that it wasn't the career I really wanted. (Not that I knew what I did want, just knew what I didn't want, and I didn't want a job that would require me to work so darn early in the morning!) and I changed directions. I am definitely a baking/pastry person.

I love to cook for my family, dinners, special meals. But then I love to bake desserts for special things like Sunday school parties, get togethers, or for my husband's work potlucks. Whenever there's a sign up sheet for potlucks, I always sign up for dessert. I feel that is where I can really express myself and take most pride.

Love cooking - I'm a lousy baker though.

I'll go with cooking because I think baking could be a part of cooking. If cooking isnt baking, then I'll always wonder why baking isn't a part of cooking...........

Cooking. Because I'm vegan it's fairly easy, I mean a vegetable stir fry isn't hard to make & neither is a salad burger. I do like baking but it's just hard to find the right vegan substitutes that actually work.
-
Cooking because I like to be spontaneous and inventive. Baking needs to be much more measurable and contained.

Both. I love the creativity and freedom of cooking, the endless possible flavors out there from around the world. But I love baking, the science behind it and the precision, the results!!! I can't separate them, one goes with the other.
